My toddler is so excited to go to bed…

… that if I take too long to exit the room after putting her in the cot she will say “bye bye!” and wave at me until I leave.

I haven’t cracked the code to managing middle of the night wake ups and they are still painful but bedtime is a dream!

Wishing everyone the best of luck with putting your children to bed tonight.

Currently reading Heidi by Johanna Spyri

I’ve recently started reading Heidi in English and I am a bit confused about Uncle Alp‘s backstory. Specifically, why the village-folk didn’t believe that Uncle Alp could raise Heidi when he had clearly done a decent job raising Tobias (Heidi’s father) as a single father? Sure, he is gruff and grumpy but wouldn’t Tobias have told them that his father was secretly a big softy? Or did I miss something that implied that he raised Tobias poorly?

What is a recommended schedule for a 17-18 month old?

My child has been on one nap from about 12 months really due to starting daycare. The past 4 months or so have been extremely smooth and we found a good rhythm. I almost forgot what it used to be like so when my daughter recently started screaming at naptime, bedtime and waking multiple times at night it was a huge shock.

It’s suddenly turned into a struggle again and reminds me of six months ago when she was transitioning from 2-1 naps. We got through it and I know we will get through this, but I’d just like your opinion on whether we need to do some fine-tuning In the meantime.

I feel like a new transition is in progress. Not dropping naps but perhaps a schedule change?

Currently it‘s roughly 5/6 with a nap capped to 2 hours. Wakeup about 7am and sleep time about 8pm. Was previously 8.30pm but brought it forward a few months ago which was a good move at the time. People who have been through this- do you think she needs more awake time now? is this generally when a shift happens?
