To The Vandal On Perimeter Last Night

I was a Sentinel. Saw you standing on something near the eastern stretch of the data wall. You didnt shoot on sight and, coming off a few rook runs, i met you and we teamed up. Most of our run was just sharing loot, but then we popped the guarded exfil. See the problem with some of us is we have Spectrum, and Spectrums WIFI is straight up narcoleptic. So no sooner had the UESC turned up then my connection straight up vanished. I wrote off the run, but still reconnected. Downed, but I expected that. I turn to see you still by me, spitting volt fire at the bots and tell you to run. BUT NO. YOU MERCY ME AND WE ANNIHILATE THE REST OF THE UESC TOGETHER. We exfil like we own then place. Youre a class act, friend. Hope to see you out there again.

You Can't Avoid Making Noise...

So don't.

Sprinting everywhere makes noise. It also makes you faster and harder to hit.

Shooting stuff makes noise. It also kills things, thus making you safer, and giving you loot.

Activating supply drops and secured resources makes noise. They also give you better loot, and faction xp.

Your abilities make noise. They can also turn the tide in a pitched battle, or get you out of dodge fast.

Speaking with prox chat enabled makes noise. It's also the best way to talk a stranger into running with you.

Starting an exfil makes noise. It also gets you out of the match and the less time you spend planet side, the less likely you are to die.

Starting a fight makes noise. It's also the insanely fun.

Embrace upstairs neighbor energy, runners.

Edit: deleted the objectively stupid part about leaving prox chat on when you talk to your crew don't do that unless you wanna get super jumped.

A PVP Noob's List of Reason For You To Please Play PVP

  1. Runners make the best enemies. A single free kit is a bigger threat than a Warden, and much more fun to fight.

  2. Sweats make the game fun as hell. If you crew fill on Cryo or Outpost you'll be crewing with folks who know the map extremely well. They'll help you out, point out good loot, and lead you to the craziest fights you've ever had.

  3. You ain't shit, and that's fine. I remember gassing myself up off some successful solo exfils, then trying Marsh Sponsered. It went poorly. The other two people had to fully revive me twice, I got almost no loot, and I was the only person who exfilled while downed. Now I've played a bunch of regular trio matches, and I'm getting more confident. Im getting better at identifying where the loot is and juggling comms, and loot. You're gonna lose a bunch even when you get gud, and that's just the game. Dont worry about it, no one cares how good you.

  4. All Runners are friends (yes even Rooks, and even Assassins). You owe your friends a good game. When you fight them, be relentless. When fill with them be essential. Bring good stuff, if only so the person who kills you pogs out. And always, always finish them. You kill bots with guns because they don't deserve your respect. Runners do. If you can, and unless you want to mercy them, you walk up to them and you take the the time to end them as an equal.

  5. PVP is insanely fun. Even when you die in five minutes, even when only one member of your crew exfils and you all have to watch. It's dynamic, chaotic, genuinely funny, and achievement everyone involved in it's creation should be proud of. Just try it, and stick with it.

See on Tau, Runners. If I don't crew with you, my I die by your blade.

About The Art Direction

I love the art direction in this game, though for the exact opposite as when I first saw it.

I used to think it was just a sleek, Nike-punk take on a series that was usually set in grimy boxes. Once I'd spent (I'm too afraid to check)-many hours in the game I see it differently: this game is rotten. All the shells, no matter how bright the skin you use is, look like corpses. The Rook is literally a skeleton of a UESC bot. Assassin's face was modeled after Christian Bale in American Psycho I'm sure of it. The colors are all putrid, everything is slime mold orange, or mildew white, or sulfur yellow, and unlike most extraction shooters, there is no sign that humans every lived or found comfort in any of these places. Tarkov, Arena Breakout, Arc Raiders, are all set on Earth in regular style cities and towns (bar the occasional monster or shotgun weirdo). You can see beds, kitchens, log cabins, place wheres people might have lived, or where they could find warmth with just a little tlc. Genuinely where are the nice cozy places on any of these maps. Where did people sleep comfortably on Tau Ceti before the Pfhor. What, besides the omnious graffiti, did the people leave behind when they died?

This was a place made by entities so addicted to power that sent a moon sized ship into space, but so afraid of risk that they made everything out of unpainted plastic and stupid looking platonic solids. They all raced to bottom, only to immediately decide the lowest common denominator wasn't low enough. They couldn't even be bothered to give the colonists actual food, but they did remember to include their branding on it. This is a world full of of necropoli, every building a mausoleum to immortalize the failed ambitions of people who thought power was the same thing as wisdom, and we're just moths, fluttering from light to light, hoping this time it won't be connected to a bug zapper.

The art in this game goes so hard, not because it's beautiful, but because it's disgusting.
