I am really struggling and feel like I am failing. Our son has just turned 14 months and his sleep is an absolute shit show. He's never slept through the night consistently (had the odd one here and there many months ago), but more often than not would wake up once or twice and always straight back to sleep. Since January, his sleep has just got worse and worse.
We felt he was ready to transition from 2 to 1 nap due to increased night wakings and abstaining naps, so we have been doing this for around a month now
We sleep trained him around the 4-6 month regression as he had a big feed to sleep association and he has self settled and put himself to sleep well ever since then - but he has suddenly started abstaining naps and bedtime screaming like a pterodactyl 🙈 His day nap has gone from 1.5-2hrs to 30-40 minutes and he has been waking hourly at night, forcing me to cosleep as its the only way for him to sleep more than an hour. I think he is very low sleep needs?
Our current schedule looks like this:
8:30 - wake
1:30/2pm - nap (aim for 1.5hrs, waking around 3.30pm)
9:30/10pm - bedtime
We have tried increasing and decreasing wake windows with no change. We've tried reverting to 2 naps, but his wake windows are now too long to fit 2 naps in and he refuses the nap altogether.
To note he's always been a late sleeper/riser, which works well for our family but I'm happy to try earlier if it helps his night sleep 🙏 I think we are finding it hard to differentiate between overtired and undertired currently
TIA from one very tired and overstimulated mama that feels like she has tried everything 😴
