Second Ryzen 9000 CPU dead on ASRock B850I
I’m Japanese and usually just a lurker, but I think I need to share this.
My Ryzen 5 9600X previously failed on an ASRock B850I Lightning WiFi. The whole system was under heavy load at the time, but temperatures were still within acceptable range. The PC suddenly shut down and never POSTed again. Unfortunately it was a tray CPU, so I could not RMA it.
After that, I bought a cheap Ryzen 8400F as a temporary replacement, and it worked fine on the same motherboard.
Recently I installed a brand new Ryzen 7 9700X, updated the BIOS to the latest version, and started using it. However, I noticed the idle temperature was constantly above 50°C, which already made me uncomfortable. One week later, the CPU suddenly died as well. Thankfully this one was retail, so I am currently waiting for the RMA process.
At this point I am also planning to replace the motherboard.
I know this is only one user’s experience, but considering the growing number of Ryzen 9000 + ASRock reports online, I felt this information should be shared. If you are currently using this combination, I strongly recommend monitoring temperatures, voltages, and system behavior carefully.
