Looking for some reassurance or for others to share their experience if they're comfortable.
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant. I had a consultant appointment at 15 weeks and it was a bit chaotic - 2 fire alarms then consultant leaving to take a phonecall, it just wasn't the best experience. She told me she wanted to see me back at 28 weeks and to start growth scans at 28 weeks due to medication but my midwife couldn't find any mention of this in the consultants notes. She also tried to put me on a higher dose of folic acid because she said it was low even though she didn't check my folate levels and they were the highest they could be at my booking bloods? Anyway... At the time I was taking 40mg of Fluoxetine and 160mg of Propranolol MR - this was 'unacceptable' to the consultant despite my GP and midwife both reviewing my medication early on and saying it was safe. The consultant advised me to come off all meds by week 34 but never actually explained why.
Since then my propranolol was changed due to medication shortages and I didn't get on with the new formulation so I have naturally come off that and feel fine, I've also halved my Fluoxetine dose and again feel good and stable. I'm wondering what's the best plan of action for now - I don't want my baby girl to go through withdrawals but I've read the effects are mild and the risk is only 20-30% but I also don't want to relapse late pregnancy or early postpartum and struggle to care for her.
Anyone given birth while taking Fluoxetine or even come off it completely in the 3rd trimester?
