Insane RWBY fever dream I need to take off my chest and might interest some of you.
So a couple nights ago I had a wacky RWBY themed dream that I felt was particularly jarring; I certainly felt I had to share it. Mostly because of how dark it was...
The dream, from what I wrote into my dream journal (I have one of those) was actually NOT a random plot, but from the looks of it, Volume 11. Not 10, not a remake, not fanfiction (from the dream's perspective) but Volume 11, meaning that apparently, 10 had gone and RWBY had gotten at least one more volume.
So, on to the plot;
I recall the episode started with the ruins of Vale during what seemed to be winter; everything was snowed in. Despite this, RWBY were apparently in their Vacuo attire... this one was where things got a big more fanfic-ish since at least Blake's Vacuo's design partially resembled what I had envisioned her wearing (shorts with stockings) and this detail stood out. Apparently, the Dragon had broken out and RWBY immediately noticed and used their scrolls to tell JNR (no sight of Oscar); Jaune seemed to be having a sort of breakdown inside an empty house and was holding a picture. Given the context, presumably, his family didn't make it. Another fanfic-ish moment where Nora had apparently grown her hair, but at least her outfit was vaguely different and closer to what she wore on V4. I recall her also holding onto a picture of her own and then going to embrace Jaune before beckoning Ren over. All the while, Ruby asked through the scroll if things were okay, but once she heard the sobbing she stopped.
She then asked Yang if it was possible Tai was alright, but Yang said she didn't know.
The most shocking part was the ending scene. We're shown a cabin, and I got the distinct feeling it was the girl's home in Patch. Someone is trying to break in and eventually does into the basement, where we see an exhausted, gaunt looking Cinder. Her arm is all black, not from the Grimm form, but as if it was burnt.
She eventually makes it to the kitchen and grabs what seems to be stale bread from a cupboard yet isn't even able to open her mouth. Then Salem's voice echoes in the room; "you know, the poison of insert some name I can't remember here is known for causing one of the most excruciating deaths imaginable. People who were stung by it found their bodies rotting away, paralyzed to the point that they needed to break their jaws in order to so much as swallow their food. Those who were stung would therefore waste away, or endure such an unbearable existence they'd think of taking their own lives first".
As this line is spoken in Cinder's head, she looks at the peace of stale bread and then at her reflection in the standing water in the sink and starts tearing off before closing her eyes forcefully and the screen faded to dark. I then heard a bone snapping sound, followed by Salem's voice again, saying "you will regret usurping my place as much as I regretted occupying it", letting us know that Cinder betrayed Salem at one point and whatever Salem or the Grimm inside Cinder did, it poisoned her to the point she'd be willing to snap her jaw just to eat. The quote about usurping Salem's place also made me wonder if Cinder was now immortal but not able to eat or drink... which seemed like a cool affliction or way to die for someone like her.
I just had to put this out because when I dreamed it, it chilled and amazed me and then I realized something like this would probably never happen, but now that I've actually put it into words and not just as a bunch of lines in a notebook, I will be able to remember it for a lot longer.
Some details I felt I had to leave till the end:
- Nora apparently found something regarding her family.
- Everything implied Salem was no more but there was now a bigger threat looming, which I believe might have had with Salem issuing a final order to all the Grimm.
- Oscar was nowhere to be found.
- In general, Blake and Nora, whenever I saw her, had this sense of foreboding around them, as if they were going to be important later on.
- I had a feeling those rumors of Tai keeping watch over the Beacon relic might be true, since when he was mentioned, I immediately thought of that, and Cinder getting into the girl's house certainly made this feel more true than anything.
