[BL2] [Linux] Unplayable performance on overkill hardware (5 fps in the menu and crashes)
I've been trying to play BL2 on my Linux Mint on Steam via Proton, but for some unknown reason, the game's performance makes it literally unplayable.
The game's stuck in the "searching for downloadable content" screen for two minutes and after that initial screen I have approximately 5-10 fps in the main menu.
Upon trying to load a save file and play the game, it crashes to desktop with no error message.
My launch options:
-nolauncher
My specs:
Intel i7 11th gen
RTX 3050
32 gigs of ram
I highly doubt a game from 2012 should be running this horribly on a rig like this.
So far I've tried:
-Updating my Nvidia drivers
-Updating my bios
-Verifying the files multiple times
-Reinstalling the game multiple times
-Changing the graphics settings to the lowest possible
-Changing the graphics settings to the highest possible
-Playing in windowed mode
-Playing in 4:3
-Playing in lowest resolution possible
-Playing in highest resolution possible
-Turning off PhysX
-Turning on PhysX again
-Meddling with the .ini files
-Installing the game on an SSD
-Installing the game on an HDD
-The native Linux version (ran like ass)
-Multiple launch options
-Multiple Proton versions (including GE)
-Set Windows 7 compatibility mode via Protontricks
-Monitoring my resource usage (with everything seeming alright)
To absolutely no avail.
It's the only game I've ever played that has such issues (even Borderlands 1 runs perfectly fine).
Did anyone else have such problems? Does anyone know why that could be happening? Am I missing something?
I've been looking for a fix for two days straight now. I beg of you, help.
