The next step for frontline Quality of Life: Let us build empty Material Pallets anywhere
First off, I want to say a huge thank you to the devs for the upcoming changes in Update 64. I recently posted an extensive Steam review (https://steamcommunity.com/id/Simpuhl/recommended/505460) compiling a lot of the major issues the community has been vocal about - and it is incredibly reassuring to see so many of these exact pain points being actively addressed in this dev branch.
I know it is not just me; a lot of people have complained about these exact same things, but seeing them compiled and actually worked on makes me very hyped for the future of Foxhole. Looking at the patch notes, it feels great to see the devs directly tackling the massive imbalances I highlighted:
- Airborne Meta and Tracking: I wrote about how broken air intelligence was and how open-top vehicles like the Pelekys got easily decrewed from the air. Update 64 is introducing mobile AA Light Tanks, letting the Lamentum and Malone toggle into Anti-Aircraft mode on any tripod, making drivers invulnerable on the Pelekys, and expanding air detection ranges.
- Infantry and Tripod Balance: I complained that the Warden Clancy-Raca sniper rifle and Booker Storm Rifle created an unfair infantry meta. The devs are shifting snipers to more complex production, slashing the Clancy-Raca high velocity modifier from 125% to 55%, and heavily adjusting the Booker stability and accuracy. Even the mounted Bonesaw and Foebreaker logic is being adjusted on gunships.
- The Range Gap (The Poke War): I called out the blatant advantage of the Outlaw's 45m range over the Colonial Spatha's 40m range, especially after all the facility effort it takes to upgrade a Falchion. Update 64 is directly fixing this by increasing the Spatha's range to 45m and removing its high velocity modifier to balance it out.
- The Fire Meta: I noted how unfair it was that the Warden Firebrand flame tank had heavy armor to survive garrison fire while Colonials were stuck with light options. The devs have increased the Noble Firebrand penetration chance from 17% to 22%, making it more vulnerable to anti-tank defenses when it tries to push.
With the game moving in such a positive direction to remove unnecessary player frustration, I wanted to throw out a frontline quality-of-life suggestion that fits perfectly with this update's theme: Allow players to build empty Material Pallets anywhere in the world using a hammer.
The Problem
Right now, Material Pallets are strictly restricted to three production methods: backline Construction Yards, player-built Light Vehicle Assembly Stations, or crated in bulk at the Mass Production Factory.
If a forward base or an active artillery pit completely runs out of pallets to organize loose shells, sandbags, or barbed wire, logi players are forced into a multi-step loop. They have to leave to a distant Construction Yard, facility assembly line, or pull pallets from a Storage Depot. For a basic wooden holding platform, this creates unnecessary downtime and clutter at active frontlines. Frontline logi guys should not need a massive logistics pipeline or a facility just to get a basic wooden platform when we can literally build entire bunker bases with a hammer.
The Proposal
Let players use a basic hammer and 25 Bmats (the exact same cost as a Construction Yard) to deploy an empty Material Pallet anywhere in the field, exactly like we do with sandbags, barbed wire, or tank traps.
Why this fits perfectly with the current QoL direction:
- Organized Frontlines: Frontline logi can quickly spin up pallets on-site.
- Reduces Unnecessary Travel: It removes the tedious chore of driving a flatbed halfway across the map.
- Zero Balance Impact: Empty pallets have no inherent value and still require a crane or flatbed to move long distances once built. This purely removes logistical friction without breaking any resource loops.
Update 64 is proving that the devs are listening to community feedback to make the game less of a second job. Allowing field-built pallets feels like the logical next step for frontline logi freedom.
What do you guys think?
