Looking for advice before I start the Step by Step cardigan. The designer recommends double-stranding a mohair lace with a worsted weight or using an aran weight. I accidentally bought a worsted weight so I did go back and buy some mohair to go with it. The top swatch is without mohair, the bottom swatch is with it, the gauge appears to be the same for both swatches, just a bit "fuller" with the mohair.
I have two concerns using the double-strand method:
- Will the mohair "wear down" with time and use more quickly than the superwash merino that I'm pairing it with?
- This my my first cardigan/sweater, am I setting myself up for extra difficulty using two strands? I am familiar with double-stranded work from doing it in crochet, so it's not really that big a deal, but man it's easy to drop those little tiny threads or split them.
I've been knitting about 2 months and this is my first "big" project, mostly I've made scarves, hats, gloves, and a blanket. The main yarn is Malabrigo Rios in Camel. The Mohair is Madeline Tosh silk cloud. I'm nervous to ruin the yarn because it's my first big splurge to celebrate this project. This is the project page. Any and all advice appreciated. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/step-by-step-cardigan
