NE FL zone 9b

Blue Java (🤞)

This is where we are at currently.

We got a good soaking rain so I went out to add some fertilizer and since I've never gotten this far before decided to snap a Pic and share.

1st Flower on Hopefully Blue Java

I'm in NE FL zone 9b and I put one 3 ft plant in ground April 2025.

Then my dog ate it.

Cut it to just below the damage (almost to the ground) and 1.5 years and a couple freezes later here we are.

No idea if there will be enough growth to protect before my first frost given it's an el niño year.

A Bumble 🙂

I mostly see Carpenter bees so I'm always happy to see bumbles.

Oh, that explains why I've seen hornworm damage but couldn't find the culprits.

Team Nature for the win I suppose.

Can you tell I loved the way South Miami used to be.

I currently live in NE FL zone 9b but I grew up in the SE of Dade County and I miss how fun and vibrant it was 'back when'.

Button Bush babies are about ready.

I started the seeds outdoors on April 30th after soaking them for 20ish hours.

This is not Penhill Watermelon

Google says Bahama Mama and I'm inclined to agree. It has an impressive amount of buds on it though.

NE FL, Zone 9b

I planted a bunch of Evening Sun sunflowers in this area 3 years ago and now I get one or few volunteers at a time spring thru fall.
