Good Evening,
I’ve recently been drawn to God. Through the last 7 months or so I went from a lukewarm believer (Protestant in 2021) to an avid reader and practitioner of the Bible both old and New Testament. I have read Genesis - 2 Kings for the first time, did my first Passover recently, and now I am rereading the New Testament which I haven’t touched since 2022. For the last few months or so, I have been convinced by a friend of mine. One that believes (I apologize if this is offensive in any way, excuse my ignorance) in the Sacred Name, using Yahuah for the Lord and Yahusha for Jesus.
Now I’m being drawn to the Orthodox Church, it was like a calling. I went to my first service today and I loved it and I want to dive deeper into it. Now to my question, I have been using these names in prayer for a few months now, and have had some prayers answered. Now I’m confused, what name do I use? Jesus is a translation of a translation of a translation (if I remember right, Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English) but in my research, Yahusha wouldn’t be correct (closer to Yeshua in Aramaic). The Orthodox Church has been around since the time of the Messiah and they use Jesus, am I in a way brainwashed? Misinformed? I don’t know.
What do I use? Which is okay? What do I do?
Sorry for the rambling, I just don’t have people around me who are orthodox to ask this to. Thank you for reading all of this if you did.
