I’m looking for some input on the capability of an 80w RF CO2 laser to create a soft bevel or radius edge on 1/4” to 3/8” acrylic similar to what a router would produce.

I’m currently looking at purchasing a Thunder Laser Nova Plus 51 80W RF specifically for cutting acrylic and the support tech I’m speaking with said I would still need to do my finish pass with a router and then flame polish. But I have seen some information that you can possibly create the edge I desire with just the laser by stepping in multiple passes from your main cut line and adjusting the strength to make a lighter pass each time.

I’m just curious if anyone has any actual experience doing this or if it is even truly possible with enough playing around with settings.

I’m brand new to this. I currently make my parts by hand but demand is really driving me towards getting the laser and learning how to use it so I can keep

unit demand and produce machine quality parts.

Thanks in advance for any input!
