Is it possible to take this job as a single parent?

I'm currently going through the hiring process for 911 in Canada. I'm a single parent to 3 kids, 2 still at home, ages 16 and 12. My question comes because I have a friend who recently quit this job as she was missing time with her young children. My boys are older so it's not as big an issue as far as that goes, but she mentioned that "unless someone is actively dying in your family, you cannot leave work". The job I'm hiring for is the closest around and is 45 min away. I'm wondering how this would work if one of my kids gets sick during school hours and I'm unable to pick them up. I want to be very realistic about what this job would look like. Are there any other single parents who are making it work? I have family around but none who are available during the hours of 8-3:30 so that makes me question whether it's even a possibility.

I dropped my cbr500R in my driveway today🤦‍♀️😭

Like an idiot, I thought my kickstand was up so took my foot off the ground and the bike went down. It was supposed to be my first ride of the season, and now I can't as the shift pedal got bent right inward and won't shift past 2nd. I've ordered a new pedal, but in the meantime I noticed today (about 4 hours after it falling) that the overflow tubes gave a slow drip of gasoline. It's not a major drop, about 10 drips/minute. Chat gpt seems to think it's just because my bike was filled to the max with gas when it fell, and it was in the left side for a good 4 or 5 min until someone came and helped me lift it as I couldn't get it to budge on my own. I just have it "upright" with the kickstand now and it's still a slow drip. Should I be concerned about a potential leak somewhere or is it normal for it to keep dripping until it drains?

I've cut way back on my sugar intake but let myself cheat once a week. I was looking forward to my Boston cream, until about 3/4 way through, I hadn't gotten to the cream...finally found it. There was maybe 1.5 tsps of cream (literally this in the photo was all there was). A first world problem for sure, but disappointing none the less!

I currently write on Google Docs (first novel) but have been advised it might not be the best choice as the book gets bigger. Which programs do you prefer for writing longer works? Preferably free as I'm poor but open to suggestions!
