Looking for some advice on starting a LEO/CJ career in the WNY area. I am a recent graduate and have a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. After I graduated last year, I was hired by the federal government, but the position was rescinded during my background investigation due to the government shutdowns. As a result, I'm no longer interested in working for the federal government and am looking to work for the state. My ultimate career goal is to become a criminal investigator. What recommendations do you have for me to get my foot in the door and start working toward an investigative position? I've seen some postings up for agencies like DOCCS OSI, but I've read that they are not very responsive in their hiring process.
