Short horror story about a little girl who becomes obsessed with the Wendy house in her new garden and the imaginary friend she plays with there

This is a long shot, but I figured it's worth a try. I read this story in a magazine in either the late 80s or early 90s when I was a kid, although it was definitely not written for children. I specifically remember that the house at the bottom of the garden was called a wendy house in the story, because I had never heard that phrase before (we call them cubby houses in Australia). For the rest, all I really remember of the story is that the girl's parents are so alarmed with what their daughter's imaginary friend is telling her that they end up >!demolishing the wendy house and find a child's bones buried underneath it.!< It scared the pants off me, lol. As I said, this was in Australia, but my mother frequently bought magazines from op shops, so my guess is that this was in a UK mag rather than an Australian one.

Does anyone have any idea what it might have been? I feel like it might conceivably have been a book extract, except that the ending feels very conclusive
