I want to gamify a dinner party (again) and I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.
I have a couple of friends that love game night -- he's an amazing cook and she's in an incredible baker, so they would make us food and we'd just eat and drink all night and play board games.
About 6 months ago, I decided it would be fun to host game night and gamify dinner, so I prepared eight different types of fried chicken from around the world. All of them were little chicken thigh bites (sometimes with a sauce), but their goal was to guess the country of origin on a handheld whiteboard based on a the spices I used in the batters. I would then calculate the miles from Google Maps on how far off they were, then I'd tell them the name of the dish and they'd guess one more time and I'd calculate those miles as well.
My one friend did so good that after 8 rounds, he had a total of 6000 miles, while my wife came in last place at over 22,000 miles lol.
I want to do this again, so I'm looking for suggestions for the next type of food to do it with. I was thinking dumplings, but things like pierogi, empanadas, gyoza, etc. might be visually obvious. I was thinking maybe noodle dishes too. I just wanted to see if anyone had some good ideas.
And in case you wanted to know what I made for the original game, this is the list:
Hat yai (Thai)
Chicken Pakora (India)
Buttermilk chicken (United States)
Pollo Chuco (Honduras)
Yan Su Ji (Taiwan)
Backhendl (Austria)
Chichiaron de pollo (Dominican Republic)
Frango À Passarinho (Brazil)
