Concerning message after doing a Facebook Marketplace Swap
Hi all,
This evening I traded my Ford Mondeo ST220 for an Audi A3. The deal was done, ended up being the Audi plus £50 for the Mondeo. Valued it around a grand as it was high mileage, high owners, and is a bit rough on the outside. And tonight I've had this message from the guy I sold it to outlining a load of issues he has noticed. I'm calling buyers remorse, but what are my rights here? I was as honest as I could be in the advert, and he also test drove the car. Not only that, but being a private sale, and not a dealership sale, there was no warranty given or implied. The only sting is that we both have the V5s for each car, since he forgot the V5 for his Audi, so there hasn't been any ownership changes yet on paper (both cars are still taxed and MOTd, not to mention I have now even insured the Audi in my own name), so I'm just concerned if I tell him sorry, no returns, then he will refuse to sort the V5 out.
Pointers and advice? Thanks in advance ❤️
Update: thanks for all the advice, here is what I have sent him:
Good morning. Sorry to hear that it wasn't a perfect drive back for you. Both cars were test driven prior to us making the deal, so if there were any issues with either car, that would have been the opportunity to find them, for either of us. The cars are sold as seen, so I cannot accept any returns, not to mention I paid for and sorted out the insurance on the Audi last night (somehow cost more to insure than the Mondeo cost me?!), so I would be out of pocket on that front. Please can you sort the V5 transfer out, and send me the number on the new keepers slip, so I can tax the Audi in my name, then I can send you the V5 for the Mondeo as well.
Many thanks, Ash
(For context, as he didn't have the V5 with him, I held my V5 ransom until he did the transfer on his car)
