My 2fa appears to be broken and I have no idea how to fix it.
I recently needed to change my account password and was logged out of my xbox, when I went to sign in with my new password I was told it was incorrect ( even though i used the new password to sign into the xbox app once before, it now says its wrong aswell). I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that i have typed the new password right as I right down my password letter by letter in the short term to make it easier to remember.
I am signed into the app and microsoft website. I am afraid of signing out incase that has some way to help, but most advanced security options need me to sign in again but i am unable.
When I go to get a security code texted to my phone it says "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method." I can get a code sent to my email but not my phone and I need both to change my password.
I have exhausted all ideas that I could find. I even waited 72 full hours to see if there was a temp ban on security codes. I have went so far as to try an account recovery form but apparently they just send a message stating that they ignore account recovery forms if 2fa is enabled on the account.
I am begging for help as this is the last connection to my father I have since his passing last year, it started as a way for us to play together and catch up and i just want the memories attached to the accounts games to not be lost.
