5th grade was last real grade.
Hi everyone, I was a A/B honor roll student in a private Christian school before my parents decided to homeschool because of financial reasons. This was terrible for me because it completely lacked structure, and neither of my parents were capable of catching me up when I inevitably fell behind. My parents weren't really paying attention to me, and I was a relatively quiet kid who was more or less fine with playing video games all day. I knew I was in a bad situation at 15, and I should've reached out for help in graduating high school. But I was very socially isolated at that time, and I guess I thought, "if my own parents don't care if I'm educated why would anyone else?". Five years later my parents started pushing for me to get my GED, I guess they remembered I wasn't educated at 20😐.I went to a not very good adult ed program for around two months where I did learn PEMDAS for the first time, but other than that the instructor was very unfocused and had other people to help, and I stoped going after one morning when she started bombarding me with math question after math question that I couldn't answer, and she started crying. It was very weird. Most of what I learned and did there was just khan academy anyway, so I didn't see the importance of going there anymore. I'm 30 now, and while I have worked, and made very good friends in the past decade, I know how I'm living is not good or sustainable. I've been putting in the work with math almost everyday for this past year, and I've passed all the other subjects last month. I've yet to take math or a recent practice test. I'm nervous about it, and hate the idea of taking the practice test only for my score to not be passing after all this time I've put in this year. I will take it next week. I made this post mainly to vent and ask if anyone has suggestions for possible career paths. I'm interested in water/waste water.
