I am thoroughly disappointed in Vorwerk

Hi everybody,

I have had my TM7 for two months now and except for a few weeks in the beginning, I’ve had nothing but trouble with it - even though I’ve been treating it like a raw egg, always handwashing everything carefully.

My biggest disappointments are:

  1. My Thermomix is making weird noises when it’s done chopping. I have uploaded a video about this last week and it happens about 50% of the time and only when there is something in the pot. Considering that it’s basically a $1.500 smart food processor, the one thing it should properly do is blitz food! Here is a better video to hear it: https://www.reddit.com/r/thermomix/comments/1vderfy/new_tm7_noises_with_empty_mixing_pot_are_these/
  2. Build quality: The plastic mantle of the pot feels super frail and cheap. Like the mechanisms inside are going to break any second. Plus when you tap lightly against the bottom part of the device, even if the pot isn’t on, there is a clearly audible clanging that you can also hear when running the Thermomix on higher levels.
  3. The support is clearly designed to deter you from using it. It took a whole week to get a response. Then, when you don’t have the original receipt anymore, they don’t give a shit about warranty anymore and charge you the full price of the repair. What is that? It should be obvious from the serial number that the device has warranty!

Overall I have to say my rose-tinted glasses are off. I really can’t overlook the fact that this is a $1.500 device that I have had for 2 months and after maybe 30-40 meals cooked in it, it’s basically already broken and the support sucks. So yeah, after it comes back from the repair, the first thing I’ll do is sell it.

Just wanted to share my experience here in case others are considering Vorwerk.

New TM7 noises with empty mixing pot - are these normal??

Hi everybody,

I’ve had my TM7 for two months now and it’s my first Thermomix. Recently, I’ve noticed that when my Thermomix is done chopping something and has a few seconds left on the clock with no ingredients left as resistance against the knifes, it makes the noise that you can hear in the video. I am not sure if this is normal and if it has been around before and I just didn’t notice it. Of course it can be reproduced when running the Thermomix with an empty bowl in manual mode.

Is this normal or do I need to get the noise checked? (The slight change in pitch during the video likely stems from the fact I still had some ingredients left in the pot)

Thanks in advance!

TM7 Cookidoo recipe - scale starting at negative value?

Hi everyone!

I’m a Thermomix newbie and just got my new TM7 three days ago. I absolutely love it. However, I am noticing one issue with the scale and was wondering if this is normal. So sometimes, not all the time, when I enter a new step in a Cookidoo recipe and have to weigh ingredients, when the next card opens and the scale resets, the measured weight starts at a negative value (see video below - although here I went back to the previous step and then hit Next to video it, so I guess it remembered the -95g from the previous measurement).

It only happens intermittently, usually the scale correctly starts at 0. I could be wrong but it feels like this sometimes happens after a step in which I cooked something for 10+ minutes (like the chili in the video).

I also did a few tests which came out fine, like opening the scale with an empty pot to see if there was drift (there was not), and filling in 300 and 1000g of water weighed using my kitchen scale (TM7 measured to the same weight and again, there was no drift).

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? My potential explanations so far were

- Maybe after cooking, some of the water has evaporated so when I go to the next step, relative to the weight measured in the previous step, it starts at a negative value?

- Maybe after cooking, I don’t take the lid off fast enough and when it starts resetting the scale, there’s some residual weight because the edge of the lid was still resting on the pot?

- Maybe on accident, I rest my finger too long when hitting “Next” so there’s some residual weight there?

I don’t think it’s an issue with the countertop because it’s quite sturdy and even if I bang on it with my hand when the TM7 is in scale mode, the measured weight doesn’t change.

Thanks for your advice!

Are steam air fryers the next generation of air fryers?

Hi everybody,

I am thinking about getting a dual-basket air fryer and have stumbled across steam air fryers, for example the Philips 5000 series (not trying to pu. Based on the YouTube videos I've been watching, it seems like steam frying is the next step beyond regular air frying. Almost all dishes look juicier and vegetables don't dry out. For example, fries looked better when steam fried. Broccoli typically gets very dry and hard to chew when I make it in my air fryer but with steam air frying, they look exactly how I want them.

Does anybody have real-life experiences with steam air frying and can report? I'd be interested to see if you use the steam frying functions and what your results are. Thanks!

EDIT: I already have a Thermomix which has a steaming function, so I don't need a steam air fryer for steaming, I'm just wondering if adding steam throughout the air frying process really does make a difference in terms of the juiciness and taste of the food!

EDIT 2: Did some more research and I also liked the argument that the steam makes cleaning the heating elements much easier.
