Crispy Chicken Thighs Recipe

Yield: 4 Servings

4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (205°C). Lightly spray the basket with oil to prevent sticking.

Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel—this helps get that crispy skin we all want. Next, toss them in a bowl with the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Make sure they’re nice and coated, and don’t be shy with the seasoning, add more if you want.

Arrange the chicken skin side up in a single layer in the basket. No need to overcrowd the basket; you want them to have room to crisp up perfectly on all sides.

Air fry them for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping them halfway through. The thighs may take more or less time to cook depending on how big they are. You’ll know they’re done when they have a nice, caramelized skin and an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. You can pair it with a veggie and a carb to round out the meal.

Best air fryer that isn't going to die in a year?

On my second air fryer in three years and the first one didn't even make it past year one before the heating element started acting up. Want to actually get this right this time instead of grabbing whatever's on sale.

Cooking for 2, mostly weeknight stuff like frozen food, reheating leftovers, occasional actual cooking (chicken or veggies). I use a crockpot for a lot of the cooking already btw. not trying to feed a family of 5 so don't need anything massive.

The three I keep seeing recommended:

  1. Ninja Foodi (dual basket). seems versatile, but wondering if two smaller baskets is actually better than one bigger one for 2 people? Dont want more stuff to clean lol
  2. Cosori. way  cheaper + decent reviews, but I've read mixed things about their customer service if something does go wrong.
  3. Instant Vortex Plus. i rmr this brand form their Instant Pot line, not sure if that trust actually carries over to their air fryers

can anyone with experience say honestly if it held up, versus just reviewing it fresh out of the box?

My air fryer is doing my oven's job and I feel weird about it 😅

Got mine 3 weeks ago. Used my full-size oven twice this week. Husband said "so the oven is just for vibes now?" What do you cook in yours most? Does it actually replace your oven?

Steak in apartment with tiny range hood

Air fryer back again :)

Problem isn't with air fryer itself. It is with most air fryer not having a low fan speed + low temp option to make it behave more like a triditional oven.

I cut the steak prettu thick to around 1 1/2-inch (picanha, because only cut I can afford lol)

Made this using medium heat on carbon steel. Cooked on the fat cap a bit. Then flip every 30 seconds. For a total of about 3 min.

I found that to get a good crust, it is important to keep surface free or moister. so I use towel to dry it while cooking. I don't add any cooking oil, and just render the fat cap a bit more whenevern I need.

Then I use lowest fan speed and 130f in my air fryer, to slowly bring it up to around 52c.

Not sure what it finished at but I think I am pretty happy with the result consider the low effort :)

What’s the most annoying thing about your air fryer?

I’m looking at getting my first air fryer right now, and one thing I’ve realized from reading about them is that a lot of the annoying stuff probably doesn’t show up until you’ve actually owned one for a while.

So for people who use theirs regularly:

What’s the one thing about your air fryer that annoys you the most?

Not necessarily something that’s “wrong” with your specific model — just one of those little things where you think:

>

Could be cleaning, checking food, shaking the basket, getting things to cook evenly, noise, storage, taking food in and out, figuring out when something is actually done, or literally anything else.

And I’m especially curious about things that didn’t bother you when you first bought it, but became annoying after using it for months or years.

I’m trying to figure out what actually matters in everyday use before I buy one.

Honest — has your air fryer ever become a dust collector? What's your DREAM one?

I've got 3 kids and a tiny kitchen. I've been burned before (Instant Pot lives on a high shelf now, bread maker maybe once a month, don't ask about the sous vide 😅).Mine's still in honeymoon phase. But before I get too attached:
1. Did you ever stop using yours? Why?
2. If budget was no object, what would your DREAM air fryer have?
Mine: self-cleaning, whisper-quiet (so I can use it at 5:30am), and like 10 temp settings because I burn everything at one 🥲

Mom of 3 — what air fryer actually held up?

Kids are 4/7/10, kitchen is tiny, finally pulling the trigger on an air fryer this week. Budget around $90, want 6qt+. What did you buy and why? What do you wish you'd known? (not a brand, just a tired mom doing her back-to-school research)

First attempt at chocolate chip cookies

Followed Pailin’s recipe but used an airfryer instead
This single cookie was from day 1, I am aging the cookies for 48 hours for a better taste. I am already quite happy with the un-aged version so I am looking forward to tasting the aged version.

Can I survive university by mainly using an air fryer to cook?

Hello, I hope everyone is doing great! I'm about to enter my 2nd year of university and I survived the first one due to the mandatory meal plan required to live on residence. Now, I'm moving into my student house with my roommates and honestly the only thing I'm worried about is food. I really want to branch off and start consuming a nordic / mediterranean diet, so I was wondering if an air fryer and simple recipes could allow me to achieve this dieting goal?

Cosori cord and plug get very hot - should it be replaced?

Has anyone replaced their air fryer because the cord and plug get really hot? My outlet is only a few years old and the cord / plug gets hot no matter which outlet I use.

Should it be replaced or do they all do this? I don’t want to replace it to find out all makes and models do this.

Thank you!!

Just moved out — what do I actually need to know before buying my first air fryer?

I just moved out of my parents’ place and I’m setting up my own kitchen for the first time. My parents have an air fryer, but I’ve mostly just used it here and there, so I’ve never actually had to choose one for myself.

Now I’m realizing there are a million different models and features, and I have no idea what actually matters once you use one regularly.

For people who’ve owned one for a while:

What’s the one thing you’d make sure your air fryer had if you were buying your first one again?

And on the flip side:

What sounded useful when you bought yours but turned out to be something you basically never use?

Could be anything — size, basket design, cleaning, noise, cooking evenly, presets, temperature control, smart features, whatever.

I’m less interested in specific brands and more interested in the things you only learn after actually living with one.

Basically, what do you wish someone had told you before you bought your first air fryer?

Moving out on my own — what should I actually look for in an air fryer?

I’m moving out of my parents’ place and getting my own kitchen set up for the first time, and I’ve realized I’ve basically never had to think about buying an air fryer myself.

My parents have one, but I’ve mostly just used it when I was at home. Now that I’m looking at buying my own, I’m realizing there are a million different models and I have no idea which features actually matter once you use one regularly.

So for people who’ve owned one for a while:

If you were buying your air fryer again today, what’s the one thing you’d make sure it had?

And just as importantly:

What sounded useful when you bought yours, but turned out to be something you basically never use?

Could be anything — basket design, cleaning, size, noise, cooking evenly, presets, temperature control, smart features, whatever.

I’m not really looking for “get Brand X” recommendations. I’m more curious about the little things you only figure out after actually living with one.

Basically, what do you wish you knew before buying your first air fryer?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve used theirs a lot.

Crispiest thighs ever

Hey guys, how you doing

I saw this awesome recipe here on the sub and commented something I thought was common knowledge. And now I want to get of my chest the technique I developed air frying over years.

I do thighs very often and after many attempts trying to make the skin not soggy I used to start with the top, bottom and then top again to finish but the chicken always dried up to much.

That’s when my smartass thought what if I start the process upside down and that was game changer, never came back.

I airfry the bottom until is nicely cooked and then flip. And that’s it no complex process. Just crispness.

Looking for Microwave suggestions - no mods

Since the Mods are gone, and chaos is sure to follow, I thought it might be a good time to ask which microwave everyone uses. I'm only responding to fun answers!
