Important warning for anyone planning to buy a TVS RTX 300 BTO

I booked a TVS RTX 300 BTO – Tarn Bronze with White Frame on 2 August from Autorace Automotive – TVS Malad and paid a ₹20,000 booking amount.

Last week, the dealership called me and told me that my bike had arrived at the dealership. I was given a chassis number also and was asked to arrange the payment.

Since the RTX 300 BTO has a long waiting period, I was actually surprised that my bike had been allocated so quickly. I arranged the complete payment because I am purchasing the bike without a loan.

However, when I informed the dealer today that I was ready to make the payment, I was told something different: the bike apparently belonged to another customer who had cancelled their booking, and I was told that if I wanted to take this particular bike, I had to purchase insurance through the dealership. Otherwise, I was told that I would have to wait for another allocation.

What concerns me is that this information about the bike being a cancelled allocation was only communicated after I was ready to make the payment.

Additionally, my TVS online booking status is currently showing "Vehicle Manufactured", rather than "Vehicle Received at Dealer."

I have therefore raised the matter with TVS Motor and asked them to verify:

• Whether the chassis number is actually allocated to my booking • Whether the bike was previously allocated to another customer and cancelled • Whether the bike has actually reached the dealership • Why I was told that the bike had arrived when the TVS status shows "Vehicle Manufactured" • Whether buying insurance from the dealership is actually required to take delivery • What the correct status of my original booking is

My advice to anyone booking an RTX 300 BTO: Before making the full payment, independently verify the VIN/chassis number, vehicle status, manufacturing date, PDI status and allocation against your booking. Also get any important promises or requirements from the dealer in writing.

I'm sharing this so that others don't end up arranging the entire payment and then discovering additional conditions at the last moment.

I'll update everyone once TVS responds to my complaint.
