Got "trapped" by traffic police — Is appealing a fine realistic as a tourist?

Hello everyone,

I was pulled over today near Vardzia. At an intersection where the road markings were almost completely faded, I made a turn error. Looking back, I understand why it was technically an infraction, but while driving, it was very difficult to figure out the correct exit path.

It felt like a classic turn trap: police officers were parked right after that exit, stopping every car making the exact same mistake (3 cars and 1 minibus got pulled over in 10 minutes). I even laugh with the officer about how everyone was falling into the same trap.

I have a few questions for locals and fellow travelers:

- Can this fine be contested? Is there a realistic appeal process if I provide clear evidence (e.g., photos showing how faded the road markings actually are vs. Google Maps screenshot of a previous clearer state)?

- Has anyone successfully contested a traffic fine in Georgia as a tourist?

I'm loving Georgia so far, but I’ve already been pulled over 3 times in just 48 hours, I just had that one ticket, and the other two felt like random checks. The police behaviour/presence here is starting to make me really anxious.

Thanks in advance for your advice !
