Hello Juniors,

I have just hit rank 3 and became the academy elder, so let this senior give you some enlightenment on the top 10 greatest Gu.

When evaluating the gu of this list, I made sure to factor in the cost of feeding, usefulness to the user, and versatility.

1. Spring Autumn Cicada (Rank 6-9): Need I elaborate? This Gu worm is simply heaven-defying

2. Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu (Rank 9): I considered putting this Gu worm lower, thanks to the high feeding cost and the Heavenly Tribulations that come with it. If you have the materials to refine this, then those issues shouldn't be a problem.

3. Undefeated Hundred Battles Gu (Rank 5): This Consumable Gu keeps me up at night. A mortal gu daring to allow its user to refine immortal gu with 100% success rate? Which human path senior created this monster

4. Self Gu (Rank ??): Why use other gu worms, when self can eat them and steal a portion of their power? Thanks, self-gu!

5. Fortune Rivaling Heaven Gu (Rank 8): Are you a talentless loser? Perhaps you are a slave for a northern plains clan? Fear not, for if you are simply lucky enough, all things are possible!

6. Wisdom Gu (Rank 9): While wisdom gu may feel too low on this list, please consider the cost of this gu, it sucks lifespan faster than a Yin Demoness. While this gu worm had a deal with Fang Yuan to be used as a zombie, I cannot confirm that such a case is the norm.

7. Response Gu: Junior, if you even hear rumors of this gu, flee as if you had just met Daoist Black Heart. Enslaved by simply responding how tragic!

8. Heavenly Essence Treasure Imperial Lotus (Rank 6-8): Slow tributary of the river of time? Dead, and now you're just a land spirit unable to produce immortal essence? Fear not, for Heavenly Essence Treasure Imperial Lotus is here

9. Second Aperture Gu (Rank 6): I've made a whole post about the GOAT of gu worms' second aperture, so there's no need to explain its reasoning here

10. Imitation Gu (Rank ???): By merit of versatility, it'd be unwise for this senior to forget about the imitation gu. Thankfully, the Temu Sect had this budget self-gu in reserve.

Honorable Mentions: Fixed Immortal Travel Gu (Greatest movement), Justice Gu (Greatest defense), Love Gu (If only it could be controlled), Strength Gu (Featless), Myriad Self Immortal Gu (Fantastic), Fate Gu (What in the heavenly court?).

The second aperture is one of the greatest gu, and I'm tired of acting like it's not.

We so often get caught up in the discussion of conflicting dao marks that we forget the true potential of having two apertures (this list does not include mortal benefits)

You have two sets of separate resources and immortal essence. You could cultivate the same path in both appertures, giving you double the cultivation resources for one path, dao marks, and achieving twice the gains in terms of cultivation knowledge during your ascension from heaven

You get two vital gu, allowing you to attempt to refine two immortal gu of your path, or two immortal gu from seperate paths without worrying about them shattering to dust.

You can place down one apperture and still leave using one like a defensive stronghold, a headquarters, or whatever else you so choose. The potential of this at rank 8 becomes insane, allowing you to consume a fragment of one of the heavens and still be able to leave and return.

If you awaken your apertures in two different regions, you can belong to two different regions in essence.

Listen well juniors.

While your pursuit of the dao is admirable, I must criticize such small thinking. Do all men wish to pursue eternal life and longevity?

Surley many masters grasp at straws to attain just to obtain a few measly years of lifespan. But what is such a thing for most men.

Who among you desires a life of solitude as you outlive not only your dao companion but your descendent up to the 10th generation?!

The wood charm gu has few equals in terms of mortal gu. Let us not forget when senior Gu Yue Qing Shu as a rank two gu master used the wood charm gu in order to close the gap between him and the Bai Ning Bing who was a rank three with the Nothern Dark Ice Soul physique as a simple B grade!

One might say "Senior Astonishing but I would become a Gu Immortal and challenge the heavens"... Junior dares? How would you even survive the first Earthly Calamity? Has Junior some sort of great secret? Or perhaps Junior is a once in a lifetime prodigy? Oh it must be a backer who rivals the heavens? I laugh at such a claim!

Another might chime in cooing, "Heh, Senior, i would trade immortals for my lifespan gu" Are you courting death? What man does trade with an ant? Does the ocean request permission before its waves hit the shore? You would be robbed!

With a Rank 5 Thousand year wood charm gu you would stand at the pinnacle of Rank 5 gu masters. Increasing your chances of truly becoming an immortal. What good is 1500 yeats if you die at 30.

Juniors are short-sighted, but senior admires your supreme grandmaster attainment in the delusion path.
