Creator vs Creation
Gu Zhen Ren, the author of Reverend Insanity. Our GOAT, our beloved author. Could this middle-aged man survive if he were transmigrated into the very universe of his own masterpiece?
People often say, "A character's intellect is the author's intellect." But writing is easy. Gu Zhen Ren is a philosopher, a keen observer of human nature. Yet could he truly turn theory into reality?
Would he be capable of manipulating and dominating others? Of overcoming his enemies? Of conquering himself? Of ruling over countless living beings and challenging Heaven itself?
Could this humble writer accomplish everything he made his characters accomplish?
Suppose he were transmigrated into the Gu World with A-grade aptitude (90%), born into a Southern Border clan, twenty years before Fang Yuan's transmigration, after the Spring Autumn Cicada had already been used.
And, to give our great hero a helping hand, we shall grant him Ning Zhuo's Golden Finger, the protagonist of his current novel: the Buddha Heart Demonic Seal.
Becoming a Buddha to himself and a demon to everyone else, influencing countless beings and commanding beasts... would he be able to ascend? Or would he ultimately fall?
After all, is Fang Yuan a perfect reflection of Gu Zhen Ren himself?
Meanwhile, the real Gu Zhen Ren struggles with social anxiety and fell into depression after the end of Reverend Insanity. He worked for years while earning almost nothing. He started alone and never wrote Reverend Insanity with money in mind.
He wrote Infinite Bloodcore purely for the ecstasy of artistic creation, but eventually had to set it aside to write his current novel, Mysteries of the Immortal Puppet Master, simply to put food on the table. To feed his family. To spend his middle age with a full stomach and rosy cheeks. To support his children and repay the unwavering support of his wife.
So, would this simple man, driven by simple motivations, truly be capable of surviving in the world of his own masterpiece, relying on nothing but his own calculations?
He will have four lives to accomplish one goal: kill Fang Yuan. If he fails after his fourth and final attempt... he will burn for eternity.
After all, a Golden Finger means very little... if the one wielding it is a weakling.
And yes, I know the tone is a little over-the-top. That was entirely intentional. 🤣
Now there's a lot I want to say about rank 10 and what it means but I'll initially begin with immortal essence. From rank 1-5 and 6-10 there is a pattern between essence where the colour match (green copper to green grape etc.) In order to continue this pattern, then rank 10 must have some sort of purple immortal essence stone with potential fruit being passionfruit, plum (the one I feel most likely) and dragonfruit.
Moving on, the question becomes the requirements needed and what needs to be done in order for a person to reach rank 10. I personally don't believe that a person needs sgm attainment in all paths as it's on the same level as saying that a rank 6 gu immortal needs 10k dao marks to become rank seven (all because they can fight a rank 7 doesn't mean they are one.)
Instead, I want to analyse the requirements needed to reach other ranks first. Given that rank 10 is on the latter half of the power system it is much more likely for follow the conventions of the previous 4 ranks which require a person to undergo tribulations and after passing enough, their immortal origin core (I forgot what it was called but it was mentioned when referring to lang ya blessed land) to go up to the next rank. For rank nine, it was different. However , the gu immortal had to gain sgm in their path and be granted permission by heavens will to become it's dao master.
Throughout all ranks however, there is one underlying rule being that all of them must face a corresponding tribulations (heavenly tribulations, grand tribulations, myraid tribulations and heavenly calamity) so now the question it what is required to cause heavens will to create a tribulations needed for a verneable to reach rank 10.
Moving aside from that is dao marks, which is only really relevant at rank 9 where to become a verneable one needs 300k dao marks in their respective path. I personally believe that the requirement now will be for a verneable to refine all dao marks of their path in the world.
When Paradise earth's inheritance was talking about the 3 requirements to become a verneable (the heavenly calamity, 300k dao marks and sgm), the third condition is the most unique where a gu immortal must be recognised by heavens will who grants it permission to be the dao master of a path. My main theory for rank 10 is that in order for a verneable to reach rank 10 is that they must directly steal that paths and all knowledge of it from the great dao and henceforth heavens will then accomidating it into themselves (immortal aperature) becomming the literal embodiment of that path. Compared to before, where they were granted permissions by heavens will to use the path they are now the sole owners of this path (imagine the difference of buying an online game to play compared to buying the source code of the game to play.)
As a result of this, it would serve as the catalyst for the final tribulations where heavens will uses all of its might to stop you from basically ripping a part of the gu world for yourself fulfilling all the 3 requirement for rank 10 similar to rank 9 (tribulations, dao marks and extra unique factor.)
Is it just me or after reading reverend insanity, other novel doesn't seem that much interesting anymore. Reverend insanity is actually my first novel. I tried the Regressor tale of cultivation but i doesn't get the hype and interest as RI. If there is any novel like RI, suggestions are appreciated.
It is said that Fang Yuan's body is also otherworldly (the sovereign immortal aperture) but it is itself made from materials of the gu world or "wordly" materials. Is this question answered ever?
There are still two major mysteries in the novel that haven’t been answered. Why doesn’t Hairy Foot Blessed Land have any openings? And why does central continent have Di Zang Sheng when no other continent does? Both of these questions are tied to Primordial Origin Immortal Venerable.
Hairy Foot blessed land has always been intimately tied with Heavenly Court; it’s the reason why they started the Central Continent Refinement Convention. Hairy Foot blessed land is known to be the blessed land left after the Hairy Man Leader from the Legends of Ren Zu passed away. There are two extremely unique features of Hairy Foot blessed land: it is the only place where success dao marks can be produced, and it is the only known blessed land or grotto-heaven with no openings.
The ability to produce success dao marks is probably the result of a secluded domain of Heaven and Earth, the Failure Mountain where Desolate Ancient Moon turned into a monster with seven heads. But why had no one invaded it to steal this secluded domain? Modern methods continually improve on ancient ones; with Heavenly Court’s deep foundation they could have safely invaded Hairy Foot and found multiple productive uses for Failure Mountain. The reason they didn’t is because POIV ordered them not to, because he’s the one who put it there and it’s already serving his purpose. Hairy Foot blessed land only produces 36 success dao marks? No way, it makes 100 each time, keeps 64 for itself, HC takes 30 and the refinement path convention winners get 6.
The other mystery of Hairy Foot is its lack of entrances. This is extremely similar to another killer move - Heavenly Court’s phantom apertures created by POIV! POIV created phantom apertures through his extraordinary understanding of Qi path and how apertures interact with the human body. When POIV placed down his aperture, he connected it to Central Continent’s Qi veins like it was the aperture of Central Continent. Since normal apertures have no openings, Hairy Foot also has no openings! Since it’s connected to Central Continent’s veins, its tribulation is also connected to Central Continent’s veins!
Why does Central Continent have a legendary Immemorial Desolate Beast that feeds off its resentment, and the other four regions don’t? The only similar phenomenon is the once-every-ten-years snowstorms in Northern Plains - the tribulations of Imperial Court! Di Zang Sheng is Hairy Foot blessed land’s tribulation! He originally didn’t start out as an immemorial desolate beast, but became one as the tribulation grew over time. Since Di Zang Sheng can’t enter Hairy Foot blessed land because it has no entrance, he compulsively attacks Heavenly Court, which was created by Hairy Foot’s owner.
The reason why Di Zang Sheng feeds off of resentment is because the people of Central Continent continually fail, but they only get 6/100 of the success that they should - this generates resentment even if the people don’t know it. This is also part of the reason why the hearts of the people eventually turn against Heavenly Court during Fate War.
Duke Long received many true inheritances from POIV and ended up creating the dragonmen species. His most important role in Heavenly Court, aside from teaching Red Lotus, was contending against Di Zang Sheng, and he used many dragon-specific methods to do so. Duke Long is still a genius, but the first steps had already been done by POIV. POIV saw that Hairy Foot’s tribulation was a dragon and made preparations for defending against it, handing these preparations off to his inheritor.
At the end of The Legends of Ren Zu, Ren Zu and his children jump into the mouth of Derivation Gu, creating humanity. The other beings who were alive at this moment continued to live through the birth of humanity. Naturally the Hairy Man Leader lived through it. The Hairy Man Leader was an exceptional genius and was extremely long-lived. While on a diplomatic visit to the rockmen, he happened to see that Fate Gu favored the rise of humanity and decided to become a human. He faked his own death, connected his blessed land to Central Continent’s veins, created a phantom aperture, turned himself into a human, disguised himself as a mortal, and let himself be discovered by a human Gu Immortal.
POIV always concealed this fact from other humans, even Xing Yu. He eventually became a venerable, and what he contributed to Heavenly Court after he died was the apertures of Qi Path experts that he had slain in secret. POIV became a human not only because he wanted to reach Rank 9 but also so that he could create an organization that would lead the dominant race of the Gu world to achieve his own ends.
Primordial Origin Immortal Venerable is the biggest genius in the history of the Gu world and nobody knows it, probably not even Gu Zhen Ren. He created Refinement, Qi, Enslavement and Phantom paths, and he was also a pioneer of Transformation path which he used to turn himself fully into a human. Duke Long also received some of POIV’s transformation path research. Reckless Savage Demon Venerable could have completely destroyed Heavenly Court if he wanted to but he made a deal to get POIV’s transformation path true inheritance in exchange for leaving it mostly intact.
POIV’s ultimate goal, centered around Hairy Foot Blessed Land, is to turn the entire Gu world into his new body and control it using his old aperture. To do this, he needs to fully refine Success Gu and wait until the qi veins of the five regions have stabilized into one. At some point he will likely be opposed by Star Constellation and Genesis Lotus who have likely figured out his plan.
I just finished reading volume 1 of Reverend Insanity, and holy shit was that a journey.
The beginning was slightly boring, with all the primeval essence explanations, gu masters, etc. But it was still captivating enough for me to continue.
I was, and am still, shocked by the insane racism in the story 🤣 The divide between mortals and gu masters is like heaven and Earth!
The author loves to explain the sceneries, and write random poems, which I've come to appreciate.
Fang Yuan's scheming was honestly really good. I really started to appreciate it once the Divine Investigator's daughter stepped in.
I really like how not everything with Fang Yuan went according to his plans, the first one being the death of Jia Jen Sheng.
And Bai Ning Bing...I thought she a girl? Surprised to know he's not. And then, he turned into a girl...
Bai Ning Bing is...weird. At first he was some crazed psychopath, next he found the meaning to life. And then maybe not. Nice character, but also confusing.
So far, I only liked Qing Shu. (Of course, our mc is a given.)
The scene where Fang Yuan ascends to Rank Three was perhaps the most disturbing thing I've ever read. It honestly changed my whole perspective on the character.
No "evil" mc as advertised, would ever go so far, them ending up as some sort of anti-hero. But Fang Yuan was straight up a villian 😭😭
I feel like my entire understanding of the character was just shattered after that.
The investigation was somewhat brilliant, them confusing his C grade aptitude for a heavenly ten bodies thing.
The only issue I found was perhaps the ending. It was way too chaotic. Just this and that happening everywhere, all at once.
And wtf is a Raise Eyebrows & Exhale Gu 😭
Sometimes, the background people just feel like NPCs with their dialogues. Especially in that final battle.
Perhaps the only times I was bored of reading were Qing Shu vs Bai Ning Bing and First Gen Gu Yue vs Crane Guy at the very beginning.
I also love how the author brings life to story, expanding it with so many povs. The pacing is here and there, but still very much readable. Fang Yuan as a character has complete broken my expectations, making me questioning myself.
Overall, for volume 1, I'd rate it an 8/10. The only novels I've read are Lord of the Mysteries and Shadow Slave, so I'd say I'm still a beginner.
I hope you senior brothers can give me spoiler free comments. And maybe even give me a ranking on which volumes are best to worst. Even fanarts for volume 1 would be much appreciated.

It’s written pretty well. It’s gu Zhen ren transmigrating as fang zhen in fang yauns life after he was reborn.
I think it did well not nerfing fang yaun. It’s kinda has the same vibes as light vs L , they’re trying to outsmart each other.
It’s a good read. So for covers the first book
Title....
Can anyone tell me what his attainment levels are in the paths he cultivates as of the latest point in the novel .
I'm pretty sure he was an enslavement path quasi master as of fang yuan kidnapping him and leaving him in hairy man blessed land.
Since he then went through a few years being taught by fang yuan in the ways of enslavement path he's probably master by now.
He was then taught by red heart traveller in blood path and ascended as a blood path immortal so he's probably blood path master.
Anyone got any info on any other attainment levels of his or am I wrong in any of these?
Why does the clone start to have different personalities?? ,at the end of the day they are still FY .
Is it because they have different memories given by FY??
i will become the number 1 gu yue fang yuan apologist in the world

Lord Great Love is the rightfully ordained ruler over all living beings!
contribute yourselves to the Heaven and Earth Great Love Alliance immediately!
the greatest blessing in my life is even being able to hold the idea of Lord Great Love within my mind
Lord Great Love... oh Lord Great Love
if i could, i would cultivate a path about Lord Great Love! i would want all my Dao marks to become Lord Great Love Dao marks! and i would give him all my Dao marks!
the greatest honour in my life would be to be refined into a useless mortal Gu material by Lord Great Love! anything more, and i would ascend to Rank 10 from joy!
oh Lord Great Love...
Up to this point it was constantly mentioned that Giant Sun was born 300k years ago and that Longevity Heaven is a 300k years old empire.
Now in chapter 1947 Genesis Lotus was also born 300k years ago. So venerable number 6 and venerable number 8 were both born 300k years ago, so by the implication Venerable number 7 was born then too.
Were Genesis Lotus, Thieving Heaven and Giant Sun all alive at the same time or did the author massively fuck up the timeline?
Were Genesis Lotus and Thieving Heaven roommates and raised kid Giant Sun together in a comedy show called Two and a half venerables???
For those that plan on start reading, that's the time it took me to reach chapter 1724.
Here are the stats:
9 minutes 48 seconds per chapter.
Some paragraphs were skipped, some time wasn't counted. They cancel each other so it's plus minus 8 hours.
I haven't reach the end yet, paused on may bc school. Will update with total time after I finish!
Which paths attainment Did every venerable's Had in common..
I mean , over the Years they have lived ..they should have High attainment in few paths besides their main and speciality...
