Can I transfer a managed DNA test to another Ancestry account?
I've had my Ancestry account since 2009 — nearly 17 years. I've been involved in genealogy for more than 40 years. I'm not getting any younger, and I've reached the point where I need to stop researching and begin organizing this enormous collection of facts, documents, and photographs into a cohesive form that can be passed down to future generations.
For decades, I’ve been the only person in my extended family seriously interested in genealogy, so I’ve naturally become the one everyone turns to with questions. When DNA testing became popular, many family members wanted to test, but no one wanted to manage their own accounts. As a result, I’ve ended up managing at least a dozen different DNA tests through my Ancestry account.
I’m planning to end my relationship with Ancestry within the next month or two, and now other family members are beginning to take an interest. One of my cousins recently subscribed to Ancestry, and I currently manage both her DNA test and her husband’s.
Is there a way to transfer those two DNA tests to her account before I discontinue mine?
I'm concerned that just sharing access will go away when I terminate my account.
