First shave by shavette

First shave by shavette

Rarely do I shave on Sundays as that's an off day shaving wise baring few exceptions when work or some commitments demand it.

Today I finally took out the shavette after some weeks of acquiring it.

Gentleman shavette

Gillette permasharp green rust guard blade

Cella red shaving soap

Omega boar shaving brush

Alum

Park Avenue Cool blue after shave lotion

Went at a slow pace, short swipes...

In hindsight should've done some pre shave apart from warm water face wash only.

One two nicks of which one was a slip of fingers.

Alum was categorically kept for this occurrence.

Also today was the first use of a mentholated after shave lotion and though I used a little less than usual I liked it.

Two passes and few cover ups... the moustache area and around lip angles was not easy .

I feel I should've clamped the blade more firmly and maybe a milder blade too would have been better not forgetting the dry run before actual shave.

This shavette shave for me will be only when I have some unhurried times.

To new beginnings and learnings.

SOTD

1st post in the group. I've been wet shaving for almost 2.5-3 decades on a daily basis sometimes twice in a day too , however recently in past few months it's 4-5 times a week . Started with cartridge based and was still shaving with them till about 2 months back. I was on hunt for new shaving cream/soap and ASL when I found this group while searching on internet. Believe you me this group was the reason I made a reddit account and joined. Anyways I did try DE shaving chance 2-3 times, initially in college and later twice on. 1st was with those gillette use and throw ones and later with Bombay shaving use and throw razor and some japanese brand I don't recall. I connected with the ever helping @okiedokiecool and he gladly advised and dispatched a starter kit.

What I had anticipated and was proven correct was an endless spree of acquisitions which eventually slowed down by spouse's warnings and sporadically rearing up head to order on workplace address or friends address. Have been rotating between very basic 3-4 razors and only two to three blades ( feather, gillette permasharp stainless green and occasionally gws ) . Going slow so nicks have almost come down to nil , Touchwood. Sometimes i do get it with some razor burn but that was gws blade and my haste too along with romer open comb but mostly I think I couldn't handle the blade jitterines in the razor very well. Coming back to today's SOTD .

Brush ,cream and ASL- forest hill synthetic brush, rest two forest essentials ( all three are wife' s random gift last year ),

Razor - rolason hybrid ( thanks to @okiedokiecool) ,

blade - gillette permasharp green on 4th use ( local shop).

Almost BBS for me

Sticking to synthetic brush for creams and boar for soaps as advised.

Ps - Just got to know the size limit is 20 mb so had to screenshot the main image and add here, 3 attempts till now since noon.
