A Utah native, Tufele was a 2021 4th round pick of the Jaguars out of USC, where he was a two time all conference selection. He didnt last long in Jacksonville, waive at the end of camp in 2022 after an injury plagued 2021 but managed to hang on as a rotation defensive tackle in Cincinnatti and NY over the course of the next 3 seasons. Detroit brought him in as of April of 2026, no doubt expecting to add some solid depth to their line, but are now cutting bait ahead of camp. Getting cut ahead of camp is never great but Tufele has only just turned 27 and has experience. He will likely be on top of many teams injury replacement lists as the summer wears on and figures to gain a shot somewhere in camp and maybe on a practice squad to begin the year.
