Groupon completely failed me on a Violin Nation redemption and wasted my time

Groupon just put me through one of the most frustrating customer‑service experiences I’ve ever had. I bought a Groupon for a one‑month violin course with The Violin Nation, and the code literally didn’t work. Their site didn’t even have a place to enter it.
I contacted Groupon and they kept sending the same copy‑and‑paste instructions that didn’t match the merchant’s actual process. I sent screenshots, explained everything, and they still insisted I “wasn’t following the steps.” Meanwhile, The Violin Nation never responded to any of my emails or Instagram messages.
After multiple failed attempts, I ended up getting charged full price because there was no way to apply the Groupon code. Groupon kept bouncing me around, escalating and re‑escalating, but never actually fixing anything. At one point they even claimed the merchant said I paid directly and never contacted them, which was just false.
I finally disputed the charge with my credit card company and got my refund from the merchant not Groupon. Groupon never took responsibility for the bad instructions or the wasted time.
If anyone else runs into a broken Groupon redemption, save yourself the headache. Screenshot everything and go straight to your bank.
