What is worth gambling for?

I haven't played Valheim since 2022 or something like that, and when we (my gf and I) came back, we found this "Forge of potential" thing. For now, we are going to kill Yagluth, but we have a lot of artifacts and haven't upgraded anything beyond the regular limit yet. Tbh, we are a little bit scared of losing something expensive like a Draugr Fang trying to upgrade it, but we think it's a waste of artifacts to use them on things like axes or pickaxes that will eventually get obsolete. So, what is worth gambling for? On what things do you guys use your artifacts, and at what points in the game?, maybe is worth come back and waste a little bit upgrading frostner or fenris set.
