Helmet Recs

I’m new to cycling and commuting. I only have a 3 mile ride to work but am feeling anxious about what type of helmet to get. I’d like to keep the price point around $100 if possible.

I will be riding an e-bike capable of 28mph but will probably stick to around 15 while I get used to it. And the street I’ll be using won’t be super busy. Just the last 1/2 mile.

I see people not wearing full face helmets in the city and full face while mountain biking. I understand why they would want one but why do people choose to not wear them while commuting?

Am I over thinking this? I understand it’s obviously a personal choice and I can choose whatever I’m more comfortable with. I’m just curious if protecting your teeth and jaw isn’t a true concern at a slower speed vs people that max out the speed on their ebikes

Sweat while riding

I’m going to try to commute to work a few days a week. It’s only 3 miles but I’ve had some medical issues the past couple years and haven’t been able to be active at all. So I’m starting from scratch on my endurance. I also sweat like crazy these days even when just walking so I know I’ll get really sweaty on the ride.

I’d love some advice on how to combat that since there are no showers at work. I plan on using the big body wipes when I get to work. But are there specific materials I should look for when purchasing riding clothes? What can I use to soak up sweat on my head and keep it from running into my eyes?

I feel like wearing my work clothes would be gross because I’d be working in sweaty clothes all day. But then the idea of sweating in clothes on the ride to work and then putting them back on to ride home would also feel gross. Having 3 changes of clothes seems like a lot to carry. I feel like I’m over thinking this.

What do you do clothes wise if you commute to work? I’m plus size so any suggestions on where to find clothes on the cheaper side to try would be greatly appreciated. Just to make sure I don’t spend tons of money if commuting isn’t going to be enjoyable like I hope it will. Thanks in advance!

Had a custom biothane muzzle made for my newly adopted Pomeranian with grooming trauma. Hoping this will help her while working with a groomer to work through her trauma.
