Has anyone experienced this high pitched engine bay noise on a 2024 Corolla TS 2.0 Hybrid?

Hi everyone,

I bought my 2024 Toyota Corolla Touring Sports 2.0 Hybrid brand new.

Around 30,000 km I started noticing a constant high-pitched whining / squealing noise coming from the engine bay. The sound is present the whole time while the gasoline engine is running (mostly noticeable outside the car).

What’s strange is that when I increase system load (for example max heating/cooling, heated seats, rear window defrost, etc.), the squealing becomes cyclic. It becomes audible for around 10–15 seconds, then disappears for around 10–15 seconds, then comes back again and repeats like that continuously.

I recorded videos only to show the dealerships how the car currently sounds and to demonstrate the difference between the periods when the squealing is present and when it temporarily disappears, because when the squealing stops, the engine sounds exactly like it did during the first 30,000 km.

This sound definitely wasn’t present during the first 30k km.

I showed both the videos and the actual car to two Toyota dealerships. Both confirmed they could hear the sound but said no faults were found and that it’s considered normal operation because diagnostics showed everything OK.

I asked how this could be considered normal if the car didn’t sound like this for the first 30k km, but I feel stuck because nobody seems interested in actually trying to identify the source of the noise and they just refer back to diagnostics.

Has anyone experienced something similar with the same model/year? Any idea what this could be?

I’m honestly getting a bit desperate at this point.
