What's the biggest mistake new Audible members make?

Here are a few I see all the time:

Not building a Wish List. When books on your Wish List go on sale, you will get a notification and can often buy them for less than the cost of a credit.

Not exploring the Plus Catalog first. There are thousands of audiobooks included with your membership, so you might find something great without spending a credit.

Using credits on cheap audiobooks. If a book costs less than the value of a credit, it's usually better to pay cash and save your credit for a more expensive title/ 2-for-1 credit deals.

What would you add? Any mistakes you wish someone had warned you about?

3 Audiobook Sales Worth Checking Out Right Now

I noticed that three major platforms are all running pretty good promotions at the same time:

• Audible - 3 months of Audible Standard free for Prime members
• Libro fm - BOGO sale
• Chirp Audiobooks - Bundles and audiobook series up to 90% off

I put together a quick breakdown of each deal, including expiration dates of each sale. If you haven't used Libro fm and Chirp Audiobooks before, now is the best time to try these platforms.

Audible is offering 3 months of the Standard plan for free

Saw that Audible is currently running a 3-month free trial for the Standard plan for Prime members.

Not sure if it’s available to everyone or only in certain regions/accounts, but might be worth checking.

You can visit the resources page on my blog to see if you qualify.

Tip: After signing up, contact support [before selecting any book] and ask if they can switch your free trial to Premium Plus. With Premium Plus, you keep the book forever, even after canceling.

What’s a Great Book That Was Way Too Long?

Does anyone else feel like some books are way longer than they need to be?

I finally finished Stephen King’s 11/22/63 and while I enjoyed it, I honestly think the book could’ve been 25–30% shorter without losing much.

I have felt the same about several other Stephen King books too.

For me, overly long books can actually make the overall experience less enjoyable, even when the story itself is great.

What great book was way longer than it needed to be for you?

Would you choose Audible Standard over Plus?

Audible stopped offering the cheaper Plus plan to new users, the one that included unlimited access to the Plus Catalog, and replaced it with the newer Standard plan, which honestly feels restrictive.

With Standard, you only borrow 1 audiobook/month and no other perks.

  • no Plus Catalog access
  • no member-only sales
  • no discounts on cash purchases

The old Plus plan actually cost less while giving unlimited listening from the Plus Catalog.

If you are a casual listener, which would you choose?
1 audiobook of your choice each month or unlimited access to the Plus Catalog?

I wrote a more detailed review of Audible's Standard plan here.
