I’m not enjoying this as much as I hope to some people might call me crazy for that.

I’m not enjoying this as much as I hope to some people might call me crazy for that.

Red Rising was one of your biggest recommendations… and I’m just not feeling it. What should I try next?

A while back I posted looking for audiobook recommendations, and Red Rising was one of the most recommended series by far (along with Project Hail Mary, which I’d already listened to).

I really wanted to love it, but I’m on Book 3 now and I’m still just not enjoying it as much as I hoped.

There are so many characters, names, alliances, planets, etc. that I find myself struggling to keep track of everyone. The story definitely has its moments, but overall it just hasn’t been as exciting as I expected. I’m also realizing that the whole space/planets/political-war side of sci-fi might just not be my thing.

I’m pretty disappointed because this was probably the #1 recommendation from my last post.

That being said, I’m not a quitter, so I’m finishing the series 😂 But I need to figure out what I’m listening to next.

If Red Rising didn’t do it for you either, what audiobook DID?

Well at least my card was locked!

Charged me WITHOUT my permission, then refused to give me a supervisor to report the behavior. That's absolutely wild. Is this what audible customer service is always like?!

I repeatedly asked for a supervisor in at attempt to correct what is clearly not a mistake, and people wanna act like I cussed them out and kicked their grandma in the head. 😂

This person, or AI as some people wanna say, asked for permission twice before deciding to charge me anyway after not getting permission.

And yes, I said ok great to them confirming they are the same person in a second chat, as the times will show. I've also posted in the comments a screenshot of my card, showing that they attempted the charge BEFORE I said ok great. So the defense of they took that as me giving permission doesn't hold.

Something changed with the Audible app?

My wife listens to books all day at work and I buy her the highest tier every year so she gets all the books she wants. But last month she suddenly ran out of data on her phone and we think it's the Audible app when she's listening during the day. She downloads them but it looks like maybe she's streaming instead somehow all of the sudden? She can't even send gifs through text messaging without disabling the Audible app. She's cleared cache, removed and re-downloaded the app, but the issue persists. Did they change things? I saw a post about them discontinuing downloads and making everything stream instead and I couldn't tell what was true or not. People were talking about Libation and that's another world to us. My wife just wants to download Dungeon Crawler Carl and listen to the damn thing without the app taking all of her data and wrecking her texting ability like she's done for years and years.

Any input from the power users here? It was so simple that we've never had to do a deep dive into any of this before. Thanks for any help.

Why cant I listen to a book I putchased?

So I purchased several books over the years and am getting back to listening to them again and I came across my book is no longer available to listen to.

I liked the original reader and I HATE listening to different readers in the same book in most cases. I want to listen to the version I purchased not a version that has a lower rating and the lower ratings all due to the readers voices.

How can I get my original book back?

After 20 years I think I'm done with Audible.

Anyone else kinda done with Audible? All the AI voice, poor customer service, and the credit expiration policy has just left a bad taste in my mouth. I've been a member since 2006 and I've slowly seen the app get worse and less user friendly while becoming more of a sales vehicle than a audiobook player. I don't know why I'm making this post, maybe is just that Amazon doesn't seem to care about user experience if the money keeps rolling in. Maybe I'm just an old man yelling at clouds. Either way it'll be the first time in my adult life that I won't renew my membership this fall and it's a little sad.

Shoutout for the Review

I want to thank this customer for their kind review.

Through three books, this is the most thoughtful (and appreciated) review I have received through Audible.

Thank you, sincerely, for your kind words. I hope you enjoy the rest of the novellas in the series, and if you would like codes for them, please DM me for those as well. Book 4, "The Night Wishes Died", is coming out towards the end of the month.

Please stop A/B testing me to death

I don’t have a screenshot of the previous timer, but it’s flip flopped twice in as many weeks. Please stop. The old UI was great. I know Amazon owns you and I’m sorry, but you’ve got to push back on this user-hostile experience.

I can't redeem a promo code

Hi! I received a promotional code on Twitch that gives me 2 months of Audible access, but I’m unable to redeem it. Could you please let me know how I can resolve this issue?

Getting tired of fantasy

Hey all. I consume pretty much all my books via audio. I’m kind of picky about narrators and story etc. I’ve listened to a bunch of fantasy series and find myself getting burnt out on them lately.

I’d like to make the switch to sci-fi or really any other kind of fiction but don’t know where to start. I listened to Red Rising but couldn’t get into the next trilogy with the narration shift. Also, sorry Matt Dinniman fans, I will not be listening to dungeon crawler Carl.

Any suggestions would be fantastic! My favorite narrators are Gerard Doyle, Simon Vance, Jim Dale, Colin Mace, Tim Gerard Reynolds, and Peter Kenney.

Thanks!

Do I keep access to books from my standard profile if I upgrade to premium?

I know I will lose access to them if I quit. But, can I still listen to monthly picks books if I upgrade my membership.

Slightly frustrated after buying 7 of the books. But you can benefit!

After I used a couple credits and bought two of the books in a sitewode sale they come out with all 6 books for one credit.

Im a little frustrated, but it is what it is...

However, you can profit! Get all 6 books for one credit through audible. I really wnjoyed the series so far. The MC is a regular guy, but he makes some unusual choices that are not typical in litrpg MC. The story is interesting and fun, and at times complling.

I would suggest it any litrpg ready, especially at this price.

**Sorry, after buying 5 of the books. Duh me!

Here’s everything I’ve listened to so far! What book do you think would fit with my taste?

I’m in the market for something new but don’t know where to turn next. I’ve also already read Project Hail Mary and absolutely loved it. Anyone have any suggestions for where I should go next?

Thanks!

EDIT: Yes, I understand this is a lot of Halo. I’m a big Halo fan and honestly haven’t been using Audible for long. Looking to branch out a bit. You’ll notice I’m asking for a new book without finishing the one I just started.

Looking for great spy audiobooks

I’d like to have some ides for spy novels. I’ve read most of John le Carreé but his audiobooks are read either by himself or Simon Vance. Simon Vance an absolutely not my favorite narrator And le Carré is somewhat pedantic in his approach I’ve listened to the Alice Network, The Hunt for Red October and Russia House. Also the Day of the Jackal. Any further suggestions would be appreciated
