Audible completely changes audiobook without my consent

I purchased the Audiobook "How to stop worrying and start living" from Dale Carnegie in 2018 via Audible. Now they have replaced the version of the Audiobook I bought with a newer version with a new narrator (Robert Petkoff), which sounds very odd and lacks character. Also partially the content is different.

Audible changed the version without my knowledge! I purchased the audiobook in that particular version, but they took it away from me.

How can I get the old version back that was narrated by Andrew Macmillian?

Hot Take

Not sure your approach but I buy a book without listening to the narrator.

There may be no better feeling in life than starting a book and *then* realizing it’s a favorite narrator!

Any idea why the app suddenly used tons of mobile data

I just received a notification my data consumption is above 15gb. Any idea why there is such a spike? I'm listening to a downloaded book.

Edit - i suspect this was caused by the animated Harry Potter poster at the launch screen. Just tested it but audible removed the animation and no data was consumed for the last 30 minutes.

Question about monthly subscriptions

I just renewed my audible subscription after a fairly long hiatus and noticed they have changed the way they do their monthly credits. You now have to use the credit each month or you lose it. I seem to remember them rolling over before and you could use them whenever you felt like it..

I've also noticed the language for the monthly book credit has changed so that it says you can listen to your selected titles as long as you're a member... does that mean that if I cancel my monthly subscription, I lose all the books Ive bought with the monthly purchases?

I appreciate any help you can provide!

Edit: I contacted audible and they were able to change it from the standard subscription to the premium plus. Thanks for the help everyone!

Why is priest by Sierra Simone narrated so weird?

I’m new to audio books so maybe it’s common and I just haven’t come across it yet. So far every audio book duet I’ve listened to the man reads all the lines for men even if the chapter isn’t in his pov and vice versa. It’s a great listen but takes me out of the story so much. Anyone know why they chose to do it like this?

Why does Audible refuses to add an audio booster even after all these years?

I know the most important thing is for us to spend more money and ask less questions. But, in your opinion what’s the reason Audible still decides, probably on purpose, not to add a simple audio booster to their app? You might say it’s not their highest priority but even after more than a decade of this app they still didn’t do it. It is such a simple feature..

Edit: Sorry I meant Volume booster.

Recommendations

I have accrued some credits & am looking for a series. Ideally more than three books, fewer than seven.

Detective/PI, etc are always a favorite.

Not a requirement, but it'd be great if the author wasn't a straight white American man.

Some that I've found at least somewhat interesting:

Louise Penny- Armand Gamache novels

Adrian McKinty- Sean Duffy novels

Jo Nesbo- Harry Hole series

Anne Rice- Lestat

Elizabeth Hand- Cass Neary series

I haven't given sci-fi or fantasy (except the Song of Fire & Ice series) much of a chance.

Thanks!

The Weight of Alloynium Episode I- Military Sci-Fi

Hi everyone!

I’m the author of The Weight of Alloynium Series. We just released Episode I in audiobook format on Audible. Jack Rogers did a fantastic job bringing the characters and story to life.

Here is what the first episode is all about:

To become a hero for the Dominion, Asset 3030 must betray his humanity.
On the mud-choked battlefields of Triton I, the Dominion demands absolute obedience. Asset 3030 has paid that price for years, burying his conscience beneath layers of alloynium armor just to keep his squad alive.

But when his battle-tested unit, the 41X, is pulled from the trenches and ordered to capture a remote civilian village, the empire's mask slips. They aren't liberators. They are there to harvest the village's population for the slave trade.

Caught between a sadistic Praeton commander and a resistance fueled by desperate vengeance, 3030 must make an impossible choice. Mutiny means swift execution. But following orders will cost him the last shred of his soul.
For fans of The Forever War and Warhammer 40k, The Weight of Alloynium is a visceral military sci-fi thriller about a traumatized soldier who must choose between his loyalty to his squad and his obedience to an empire.

The Weight of Alloynium is a fast-paced, high-octane novella series with episodes meant to be read in one sitting.

It follows the boots-on-the-ground survival story of conscripted soldiers serving the imperialist Dominion.

Their choices have consequences for the galaxy and their souls alike.

Help me choose my next Audible read

Here are my options, feel free to suggest your own:

- The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
- The Great Alone
- Dungeon Crawler Carl (a little scared to start this one because I’m worried I’ll want someone to talk to about it and no one else around me is reading it)
- Never Let Me Go
- Recursion
- Maid (I saw the tv show so I don’t know if the book is different enough to be worth it)

Some recent books I have loved:
- Rebecca
- Project Hail Mary
- Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
- There is No Anti-Memetics Division
- Educated

Surprising dislikes:
- Remarkably Bright Creatures
- Looking for Alaska
- Yellowface
- Where the Crawdads Sing

The Perfect Playback Speed?

For me, it's 1.5. I peaked at 2x but then I realized it was stressing me out, and I'm focusing on my heart health these days.

How about you?

Price discrepancy - login to pay more

I login on pc to get around google play store, nope. Not allowed for an account with a phone number as user name. They certainly aren't giving that 30% fee to the play store if I buy it on pc, they must keep that extra bit. I have Audible Premium Plus plan. I guess books are way cheaper with the less expensive Standard plan....................................

Anyone else experience this and have a solution that isn't make a new account?

What book pissed you off recently?

People always talk about books they liked. And I guess technically a book can piss you off and you can still like it, but that’s besides the point.

What book have you listened to that pissed you off? What happened that pissed you off?

(Don’t forget spoiler warnings) I don’t care, but others really do.
