Those who had laparoscopic surgery

Question for those who had laparoscopy and the surgeon closed wounds with glue.

How long before all the glue was gone?

I’m nearly 2wpo and though some has gone, a large portion still remains, I’m loathe to remove it like a scab and pick at it, but at the same time I’m curious how long it’s going to (literally) stick around for?

It can’t just be me, re furniture recycling area

Whenever we visit our local Ikea, I like to visit the ‘furniture re homing shelter’ and refer to it like a pet re homing place.

I even find that I feel sorry for the pieces of furniture that have obvious bruises, scratches and on occasion actual holes as it lessens their chance of finding a new home.

I know I’m not right in the head 😬

Less than 48hrs po, too scared to poop

My op was on Friday early afternoon, and though I had a poop on the Friday morning, I’ve been too scared to go since.

The hospital has prescribed and I’ve taken 2 doses so far, and I know it’s there but I’m just too scared to push it out if that makes any sense?

Am I able to use a suppository to get things started or is that a bad idea?

I’m so aware that the only thing at the moment stopping ‘escapes’ of my intestines are just a few stitches, so this is really not helping my mindset 😫

Weird pain +24hrs po

I had a full hysterectomy yesterday (uterus, cervix, tubes and ovaries), but tonight I’m experiencing what I can only describe as period pain - I mean wtaf?

This has completely thrown me, I have 5 keyhole scars, all look normal, obviously I can’t see the other scar, but I have had a little bit of spotting which I assume is normal?

The hospital has prescribed so I’ve been taking daily blood thinning injections and twice daily laxatives, though I was a bit late starting the latter as I forgot.

Is this normal?

Today’s the day

Edit: I’m out and home, feeling really sore and tender, mostly just tired though. I feel like I’ve had a mighty kick in my chuff lol.

Getting into the bed was a challenge let’s just say, and then turning onto my side even more so, but I’m so glad that it’s now all over 😃

I can’t seem to be able to regulate my own body temperature, I’m between sweating and shivering - is that normal?

Big thank you to everyone who offered support but replying to this thread, I really appreciate it and really needed it pre surgery, I really can’t thank you all enough ☺️🙏🏻

****

Got to admit that I’m a little afraid.

Full hysterectomy so uterus, tubes, cervix and ovaries because they are deeply suspicious of endometrial cancer following tests (series of scans following a failed biopsy).

Err, see you on the other side I guess? 😬

Finally agreed to a hysterectomy

Well after months and months of pain, the Drs have agreed to a hysterectomy (full absolutely everything) .

Bad news being that they agreed because they think I have cancer.

They tried to biopsy, but it seems they just took scar tissue which told them nothing, MRI showed a ‘large mass’ which they’re suspicious of, they said a hematometra, but together with my other symptoms think may be hiding a tumour.

Everything over the past few weeks after I experienced bleeding has been on fast forward, and I’m so aware that this is a big / major surgery, I’m starting to feel nervous.

So please anything you can suggest or advise right now would really help 🙏🏻

A few years old, but perfectly placed sign on the wall

I forgot I even took this photo (in 2018), but it was on a different app in my memories from today, so here I’ll share it in all its glory 🤲

I want to add a Ikea Hultarp bar under kitchen cabinets

We’ve already got a couple of these Hultarp bars on the wall for the pots / pans, but I want to add another, but this time screwing into the bottom of the kitchen wall cabinets (not Ikea kitchen), so I can dangle the often in use drinking cups / mugs on it.

Doable? Or are we better off mounting it to the wall and just putting a spacer or something behind for the extra clearance? I’ve not mounted anything other than lights to the underside of kitchen cabinets before.

Alternatively if I buy some spacers I could just fit it to the tiles under the cabinets, I’ll be using S hooks for each cup, but for keeping them up there the clearance on the bar alone I don’t think is enough.

Ok links so you know what I’m talking about:

Moving on to a Tesla from a BMW i4

Copied as i posted this elsewhere and was advised to post here.

Only changing really as BMW have stopped production of the i4 apparently to make way for the new i3 (which I don’t like the look of).

Not yet, but as soon as I want to get ducks in a row and know what I’m doing when it comes time.

Current car is PCP and just over halfway through the contract, so when contract comes to an end, we’ll be looking at getting a Tesla.

So, talk to me, what differences should we expect from one to the other? We have a i4 35 m sport - upspecked, I’m leaning toward a model 3 premium

What should we check for as we’ll be looking at nearly new rather than brand new so as to avoid any extra costs (and depreciation values).

What is the boot space like directly compared to the i4?

Are the seats comfortable like in a BMW? I have spinal issues so find the almost like an armchair front seat of our car really beneficial.

This sentry mode, can it be 24/7 or does it eat up battery or is there a subscription fair usage?

Big question is the charger, am I able to continue using our Ohme charger (untethered) or do we need to get a different one - silly question too, where’s the charger front or back?

Other big question is, can a trailer tow bar be fitted retrospectively by the dealership if the car doesn’t already have one

As you can see we’re still very early stages on this

Already thinking of what to get next

We’ve currently got a BMW i4 which we love but on pcp, and though the end of the lease is still a way off, we’re already starting to consider what to get next.

Though this is our first EV, it’s actually about our 4th beemer (we don’t keep the cars), however the i4 is being discontinued and I’m not feeling it for the new i3 that’s coming out soon, to me it looks like a Kia and I just can’t unsee it.

So, we really don’t know what to get next, I don’t like the idea of a Tesla, not due to the EM thing as wcgaf, it’s more about the needing tech to even open the glovebox (we’ve seen James May review).

I like the idea of a RR defender as the original was a solid bit of kit or Jag I pace as it looks pretty 😂, but know little about either and apparently the RR is more of a hybrid than a full EV, really we don’t know what to do.

It’s not a snob thing either, as I was in a RTC in a MINI many moons ago and before that a RTC in a Ford, both cars held up very differently, and I’m now in a position where I’m so damaged from injuries that I want to think of high end / robustly built vehicles that don’t crumple up like a square of paper.

So please help us 🙏🏻 only *must* is it has to have a towing capacity (thankfully only trailer)

Need to lose weight for a operation

PTW
I was told last week that despite my pain and all the other points to say to do the operation sooner, I need to lose weight - currently 120kg, need to be 101kg or something?

That’s a huge drop, for me in old money that’s 3 stone!

Unfortunately however, due to my various disabilities I can’t exercise, so I’m having to use the next option which is a calorie deficit.

I’m logging everything that I eat, I don’t log drinks but drinks are sugar free squashes and water anyway, occasionally a cup herbal tea.

The app I’m using is suggesting 1600-1700 calories a day, yesterday I achieved 749 (plus unlogged drinks), I’m not starving myself, I’m just trying to eat fruit snacks instead of biscuits / crisps / chocolate / etc, if anything I’m eating better than I was before.

Be honest with me though, is this going to work?

Red bottle opener from the 80s / 90s

Going to sound crazy, but I had a bottle opener that was really useful and lots of memories attached, which I’ve lost, and I’d really like to replace it.

It was bright red, I think had something printed on it at some point but I can’t remember what and this part of the replacement isn’t really important.

It was double sided with a standard size bottle cap opener and a larger version at the other side, and the handle had slight finger shape grooves for grip.

The bottle opener it had was round and covered with a little metal spike and was very similar to the one I’ve managed to find on google images search, except the one I had wasn’t as deep over the bottle cap if that makes sense?

Please help me find one 🙏🏻

Veggie rice in the restaurant

Each time we visit our local Ikea, if we end up in the restaurant (50% of visits), I ask for the veggie rice.

However 9 times out of 10, even on visits earlier in the day it’s completely sold out!

They don’t seem to make nearly enough of this stuff and it is SO nice!

I’m going to try and make a homemade version, but with cous cous, but I don’t actually know what the overriding flavour is as I just can’t identify it, so if anyone knows?

No claims proof from motability?

We’ve had a car from motability for the past 5 years now, and cancelled the private car insurance as we got rid of said car at that time 5 years ago.

With the changes to motability, we’re not going to continue with the scheme at the end of this term and just get another private car.

Which leads me to the question, my partner has had no RTAs since 2005 (even then it was a no fault), I understand that we lost this continuing no claims gratuity when the policy was cancelled in favour of the motability scheme.

However, in the past 5 years we’ve also had no claims, so is there any way of getting proof of the no claims (which new insurers require) when we leave the scheme?

Only one thing worse than menopause is having a menopause twice!

3 years ago I had a ablation surgery which though I’m early 50’s and some wouldn’t consider it as such, brought on a ‘early’ menopause.

I’ve suffered horrendous pain since, which is under investigation by the gynae team. but things came to a head yesterday when after a sudden very very painful pain I experienced bleeding…

…so we rushed to the hospital emergency room as I have had zero bleeding since the ablation 3 years ago, and took the pain is a sign there’s something wrong, but bleeding is a sign something is very wrong.

More tests and it seems like this blood has been
‘Stored’ behind the scar tissue, so I’m having and I’ll quote their words “the mother of all periods”, I’m getting clots, I’m getting gooey mucusy secretions and I’m getting quite a bit of blood (dark red).

So after getting my head around the menopause has been and done its thing - this happens!

No idea if this is a temporary and it’s just having a clear out down there, or if they’ll just restart now

Who keeps the instruction booklets afterwards?

Be honest, who keeps every little instruction booklet for how to put things together?

Me? After completing, it gets chucked into the box and then sorted for recycling. Though some difficult pieces with extra steps get put on the side to think about for a few hours / days before clearing them without fail into the recycling.

Whenever I’ve needed repeat instructions, I just use the version on the ikea site - it doesn’t get printed, more flipped through to remind of how, and then X the window and forgotten about.
