Does netipot help with minimizing allergy symptoms ?

I think I developed a dust mite allergy earlier this year. It's been awful and my nose is clogged often. Sleeping at night is especially awful because I can't breathe with how bad it gets

Im very new to having this issue and I was wondering if netipots have helped for you guys? Or if taking allergy meds is the best option? I just wanna sleep at night without having to prop myself up 45° 😭

What's the best HEPA air purifier for allergies that actually helps?

My allergies have been pretty annoying lately, especially at night and first thing in the morning.

I've been keeping the bedroom clean and washing my bedding more often, but I still wake up stuffy and sneezy some days.

Thinking about getting a HEPA air purifier, mostly for the bedroom. For those who actually use one, did it make a noticeable difference?

What are you using, and is there anything you'd avoid?

How come there are so many anecdotes about Flonase causing anxiety (including in my case), yet every list with side effects for the medicine I check, it's not even on there?

I've tried over and over again to use this stuff because I figured it was just in my head. But every time my anxiety just got so much worse to the point I had to stop again which improved my anxiety a lot every time. Why is it that it is not known to be a side effect by health care providers? The only thing I can find about it is that it's unlikely to cause anxiety because almost nothing passes the blood brain barrier. But then still there must be a reason why this symptom is so prominent everywhere.

Can you all of a sudden have allergies?

I got two stray kittens about 7 yrs ago. Their mother was hit by a truck, so about 7 kittens were left bundled together. I took two and several ppl from work took the rest.

We previously had 2 other cats years earlier.

My daughter is now 26 and lived at home thru all the cats phases. A few months ago, she noticed she was having problems breathing, at first she thght it was her sinus or other all allergies. She went and got tested. She was told it was the cats.

I questioned how it could be possible. They are indoor cats and she never had issues before. We are going to try out the Navage daily flush..... Otherwise, I have no idea what will happen.

Is it possible to develop allergies to your cats after so many years? Is there something I can do? I just ordered two air purifiers and a Navage machine.

ILIT Bad Reaction (but not bad experience overall)

Hi,

Last week I had my fourth ILIT round (treating bad allergy-induced asthma and other allergy symptoms for dogs, cats, and dust mites). Within a few minutes, I went into anaphylactic shock, and this has not happened to me since I was really young. The doctor and staff handled it well, and symptoms were gone after a lot of oral medicine and two epipens. I felt pretty okay since, but almost a week after I had a sudden onset of symptoms (accelerated heart rate, light headedness, fever, etc.) and ended up going to the ER at my allergy doctor's rec.

I haven't been around animals in the past week, but in general I have felt huge relief by these shots. The only bad reactions I had to the first three were a headache and expected allergy symptoms. This is mostly just a PSA that the risk of anaphylaxis is real (as it is for any allergy shot). My doctor did not think that there was anything about the fourth shot in particular that caused this. I.e., there is not enough evidence to suggest a heightened risk with more shots. I think the risk is the same every time.

What does an allergy / skin sensitivity to laundry detergent look like? I have itchy skin (even when I just woke up) mostly around my chest arms, back, neck, and shoulders. Also got irritated by shower water when I hadn’t used any products on my skin in the shower. Been happening for like a week!

I’m allergic to my dog??

Hello, I (20F) just recently got a dog. A seven year old chihuahua/terrier mix. I wanted a dog to keep me company when im at home and to give love to and spoil. This is my first time owning a dog as an adult, I’ve had allergies to other big dogs in the past so when I looked for this one I wanted a hypoallergenic dog. I was contacted about this dog from a lady on facebook, she said she was getting rid of her and that she’s also allergic to dogs but this one has never bothered her. So I took her word for it and I took the girl home, the first three days I didn’t have any problems. But these past two days I have been hiding in my room due to feeling very ill and constantly breaking out in hives. It makes me crushed, I want to give this girl a good home and I want to feel better and be able to go out in my home without feeling sick. She also sheds ALOT more than I thought she would. Does anyone have any advice or solutions? Is there a medication I can take or something I can do with her to fix this? I don’t want to turn around and give her right back. Also I’ve already tried Zyrtec.

I shouldn’t be able to smell you, and that includes perfume.

I think that I shouldn’t be able to smell someone unless I’m in their personal space. Whether that means B.O. or perfume, or cologne. I understand that you think your cologne smells good, but it’s a health hazard to some people. If you want to wear something, fantastic! But I should only smell it if I lean into your personal space.

Never experienced allergies until 2026

I have never been the type to have allergies. Even as a kid. The only thing I would get was frequent ear infections as a child. Now in 2026 I’m turning 24 in 9 days, my eyes are so itchy I want to rip them out and I’m sneezing non stop sometimes 6-10 times in a row. Frequent night headaches, dizziness spells after sneezing. And runny nose after sneezing too, along with my nose being clogged when I’m laying down trying to sleep. I’m not sick, I haven’t ran a fever but this is so weird…. Is anyone else experiencing this? I’m in Florida… this has been going on for 2 months now

Cetirizine ( DRILL ) makes me incredibly drowsy and internal shaking feeling

Hi, I have been trying to manage my " allergies " symptoms with my deviated nose with Drill, which works kinda wonderfuly for my nose. Althought, I am starting to see a pattern of important side effects I can't ignore.. I take Cetirizine maybe twice or three times a month max. I tried Allergex as well, same component but it doesnt have any effects on me at all? I can only do suckable tablet so my choice is limited. Does anyone also experience this on Cetirizine ? I wonder what could work for the nose issues... I tried salt spray too. But no luck

allergic reactions and panic attacks

whenever i get an allergic reaction i immediately get a panic attack and unfortunately both things have similar symptoms.

i struggle with identifying the panic trouble breathing with the allergy trouble breathing. i thought using an oximeter might help by tracking oxygen levels and if i get a low than normal reading then its a severe allergic reaction.

chatgpt says an oximeter wont help me because ill get a low reading too late and i would be already in an anaphylaxis shock.

anyone been through this?

9+ years of allergy shots and still allergic -- am I supposed to get them forever?

38F and have been getting allergy shots for the past 9+ years. I have had to switch doctors a couple of times because I moved, but for the last 7 years they've been consistent with my current doctor.

When I first started getting allergy shots, my allergist at the time told me it could take between 3-5 years before we'd be done. My current allergist/ENT says I would just get the shots indefinitely.

I recently went to see a different allergist and they requested I get my blood tested to see where I was at with my allergies (my current doctor has never suggested I retest). My test results show that I'm no longer allergic to the various trees and pollen like I used to be, but I am still allergic to cat dander (0.47), dog dander (3.37), and both varieties of dust mites (0.91 and 0.66).

My question is after so many years of getting allergy shots, should I bother to continue? Do I really just have to keep going forever? It seems different doctors have different opinions on this and I'm curious what others' experiences have been.

TIA!

How long does your symptoms last?

I've been dealing with allergies for five days straight now. I've been told to take Allegra-D for nasal congestion and my Fluticasone spray. I also did a sinus rinse, took steamy showers, and drank a ridiculous amount of water. Then, I cleaned the house, mopped the floors, have my air purifier running with new filters, and wash my bedsheets weekly.

Also, I came up negative for any potential infections, so it's purely allergies. At this point I have no idea what's going on, so I wanted to know how long allergy symptoms last for you guys? Maybe I'm overreacting and this is just the bodies natural cycle.

Question about possible delayed reaction to Penicillin V

About 2 years ago, I took Penicillin V for an infection. The day after taking my first dose, I noticed that the left side of my lower lip became swollen. It was only the left side of the lip, and I didn’t have any other symptoms — no rash, hives, breathing problems, throat swelling, dizziness, etc.
I usually break the tablet in my mouth before swallowing it. My family doctor thought that perhaps the tablet had irritated the inside of my mouth/lip because I broke it, while another doctor told me that this was not really possible and that it was more likely an allergic reaction.
I continued taking the Penicillin V for another 5–7 days (I don’t remember the exact duration), and I did not develop any other symptoms. The swelling went away on its own within about 1–2 days.
Afterwards, I had a blood test for penicillin-specific IgE, which was negative. However, I was told that a negative IgE test does not necessarily rule out a penicillin allergy, especially if the reaction was delayed.
What do you think — does this sound like a possible allergic reaction to Penicillin V, or could it realistically have been local irritation from breaking the tablet in my mouth?
Should I avoid Penicillin V and other penicillin antibiotics in the future, or would it be worth seeing an allergist for proper testing/challenge?
I’m also quite anxious about taking other medications now. For example, I need to take medication for parasites and I’m worried because I have heard that some antiparasitic drugs may be chemically related to antibiotics. Is there actually any significant connection between antiparasitic medications and penicillin allergy?
I’d really appreciate opinions from people who have had a similar delayed reaction or from doctors/allergists.

Why does my fresh air system make one floor smell like wet grass?

Newer house, fairly tight, with a dedicated fresh air intake. The weird part is that whenever it runs, one upstairs area starts smelling like wet grass or “outside air.”

Not awful, just noticeable enough that everyone comments on it. I’m not looking to shut ventilation off completely. I’m trying to figure out whether this is a filtration issue, intake placement issue, or just normal. I found cozeware freshflow while comparing different filtered-intake setups, but mine is a whole-home HVAC question first. What would you check before changing the system?

Full body itching, no hives or other symptoms? Seeking advice on what this is!

About two years ago, I would randomly start itching during the day which of course would disrupt my sleep at night. I live in Phoenix Arizona where yes we have dust, pollen and pollution but I don’t have the typical allergy symptoms. I do however get nasal congestion so I’ve been taking both Claritin and Flonase which minimizes those symptoms.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? I don’t have hives or any type of elevated rashes. Though my face definitely looks flushed and some parts directly below the ears. I’ve done low histamine diets and they don’t seem to do much. I’m wondering if this may be a new dust/mite allergy which I’d love any recommendations you may have! I’m already vacuuming and deep cleaning each week, which isn’t seeming to help the itching.

NOTE: I recently traveled for a few weeks to the east coast and the itching completely stopped. This of course makes me think it’s all environmental vs histamine from foods etc.
