How would you get this burn out of oak? Or camouflage it

This table has a pipe burn on it and I can’t get it out with sanding. I was planning on doing a Swiss coffee wash and then a water based polyurethane top coat. I was thinking of trying to disguise the burns by painting very small diluted white flecks over it before the paint wash but I don’t want white streaks, any advice?

Ideas and newbie help with veneer

First question is walnut color or the olive green?

Second here's what I'm thinking,

Strip

Sand

Stain

But that's all I'm thinking. Tips for not sanding through the veneer, products to use, ideas etc. Thank you!

Good idea for first flip?

Got this dresser for free. It’s solid wood, and in good condition for the most part. Does this seem like a good first flip just to try it out? If so what should I do with it? Looking for any advice 😊

Need opinions on this lamp

Not a professional at all I’m actually a nail artist and I make a lot of miniatures using craft supplies but I’m trying to renovate my room for cheap so I just need some advice. As you can see I’ve already done some of the lamp shade but I’m afraid I don’t have the skills to do the parts that are still gold. Would it be worth it and look better to try? Im using liquid stitch glue and pins. Or does it complement the base and should I save myself some trouble? The golds are different in person and neither match the tan of the cheetah print which is why I’m more inclined to try covering the whole lamp what do you guys think

What kind of wood backing is this? Is it paintable?

Does anyone know what kind of wood the backing of this cabinet is? My guess is HDF masonite. If so, how would you go about painting it? I'm worried about warping it, as it's quite thin and has a smooth-ish finish

Question about wax accents over chalk paint.

Hi, all, total newbie, I have been watching a ton of videos , but I'm confused about something. I have a small flat end table that I'm going to paint with chalk paint , apply a decoupage on top, and I would like to add a little bit of darker gilding wax in the grooves on the legs and around the edges. I am planning to finish the whole thing with a code of polycrylic. My question is, once I have all the painting on and I'm ready to add the gilding. What is the order of products? Do I have to do one thin layer of poly before I start doing the gilding wax? Do I apply the gilding wax directly onto the chalk paint? Do I have to apply a thin layer of clear wax down in the areas I want to add the gilding wax first so that the gilding wax doesn't suck into the chalk paint? I keep seeing that I can't poly on top of wax So i'm getting confused. help please?

First flip, which do you like better?

I got this little solid wood cabinet at a moving sale for ✨free✨and I started stripping the finish and the wood color is gorgeous so I want to preserve it. I am torn between cutting off that top shelf to modernize it a bit or leaving it to preserve its character. I just don’t like the spindle supports. If I remove the top, it will be 23 inches tall which is an awkward height. If I leave it, it’s 29 inches tall. What do you guys think? Any input would be appreciated!

Help: How can I fix this warped material?

Not sure if this is the right sub for this question but does anyone have advice for fixing this bubbling/peeling material? I can't tell if its a plastic material or some kind of thick paper. Thanks in advance!

Which direction for this old pine wardrobe?

I've got this old pine wardrobe that's been sitting around and honestly never loved the look of it. Been trying to figure out if it's worth saving instead of tossing it, so I threw together a few AI-generated "what if" mockups to get some direction before I commit to anything.

Option A: dark espresso/brown paint with a fluted wood door panel left natural, plus leather pull tabs Option B: navy blue with cane/rattan door inserts and a small drop-down bar shelf inside Option C: whitewashed/pickled pine, keeping it mostly natural but lighter, with a cane panel on one door

Which one would you go for? And more importantly - realistically, how much work am I looking at for each?

New life into an old tatty cabinet

This started off as a tatty old wooden unit, had this for years and it simply matched nothing, but was handy storage.

On stripping the wood quality wasn’t great as demonstrated by the drawer front photo.
However I primed thoroughly should anyone along the line want the horrible quality wood finish back, and I took a punt on the top of it being a slightly better quality wood, it was, but only very very slightly. Although there is a chunk of what looks like chipboard on the very back of the top of what appears to be a crude repair job to a gouge made in its life, the rest is solid wood.

I’ve lined the shelves and drawers in sticky back plastic that looks like metal as I thought it would work with the new shiny stainless hardware - I hate painted handles, the top has a sheet of acrylic which not even the 24 hours after fitting has been scratched by the cats (guilty party in the photos).

The jar is about 99% of the shellac? which was manually scraped off (some escaped, some wasn’t properly collected)

I know not everyone likes old furniture being painted, but this piece really wasn’t looked after in a past life before us and barely anything on there was original to start with, also as mentioned its colour matched nothing, so this gives it a new look and life as a continued usable piece of furniture.

On top of that, it previously had that old musty wood smell, and not a pleasant smell either, now it’s fresh and not at all ‘scented’

Fogged streaky mirror solutions?

Long time admirer, first time poster! Been looking for a vanity like this forever. Price is right. Condition fantastic and I love the aged appearance so probably not going to touch the base.

Any suggestions for addressing the streaky mirror? It’s inside the glass of course. Restoration gentleman mentioned a Mylar paint option. Mirror shapes have some curve, replacement might be tough?

Not selling, this is for keeps lol. Open to any and all suggestions from novice to advanced. Desperate to make this mine. Thank you in advance!
