I've been looking at some stunning Edwardian wardrobes with beautiful inlay and marquetry work but I'm gutted that they are often less than 40 cm internal depth and / or only have a central door.

This means I couldn't put a standard hanging rail in to accommodate the standard hangers approx 45 cm

Is there some way of making these beautiful antiques deeper to be more practical? Or is it just too much work?
