Petrolhead to a M3 RWD… never thought I’d be saying this 😂

I’ve always been a massive petrolhead. My daily has been a 2014 Mercedes CLA 220d that was running a Stage 1 map and I genuinely loved it. I’ve always been into cars, noise, torque, modifications… so an EV was never really on my radar.

Then I heard about the recent Model 3 RWD PCH offer and thought I’d at least go and test drive one. Safe to say… I was completely blown away.

The instant torque, how planted it felt, the technology, the simplicity and how refined it was completely changed my opinion.

I ordered one on 25th June and completed the finance application today, which was accepted straight away. 2 year,10k, 12 month down and the figures on lex Autolease were a bit different to what was on the Tesla website Delivery is currently showing September, so now the wait begins!

This will also be my first ever EV, so I’m sure there’s loads I don’t know yet.

A few questions for existing owners:
- What are your biggest tips or tricks for a new owner?
- Any settings I should change straight away?
- Any accessories that are genuinely worth buying?

I don’t have a home charger yet. I do have two Tesla Superchargers within about a 10-minute drive, plus plenty of other public chargers nearby. Is living without home charging as inconvenient as people make out or is it manageable?

Anything you wish someone had told you before you took delivery?

Looking forward to joining the club! 😄

What are the must have accessories?

I'm getting a M3 later this year, and wondering, for those of you who have bought accessories, what ones are essential and you couldn't live without? Thanks!

Is Tesla’s 0% PCP actually better than PCH right now? My maths says yes — am I wrong?

I’ve been going back and forth between PCP and PCH on a new Stealth Grey Model 3 LR AWD (£49,990) and after running the full numbers I’m genuinely unsure which is better. Everyone seems to be raving about the PCH deal but with 0% PCP available I can’t see why. Am I missing something?

PCP (handing back at end of term):
47 × £668 = £31,396

minus £2,500 Tesla deposit contribution = £28,896

plus VED + eVED over 4 years = £2,110

Total: £31,006

PCH:
Total payable per representative example = £29,232

No £2,500 deposit contribution available

VED — this is where I’m confused

Tesla’s support page (tesla.com/en_gb/support/pch-support) says two contradictory things — “you remain responsible for the cost of the tax” but also “the tax due at delivery will be included in your finance agreement… already included in your monthly payments.”

Full quotation: “Tesla arranges tax for your hired vehicle but you remain responsible for the cost of the tax and for ensuring the MOT is carried out and insurance is in place to allow the vehicle to be taxed. You are also responsible for the costs associated with the Vehicle Excise Duty from 1 April 2025.

So is VED actually included in the £29,232 PCH total or billed separately on top?

If included → PCH saves £1,774 over PCP If not included → PCP wins by £226 and also gives VT rights and buy option

Has anyone with a Tesla PCH taken out after April 2025 had VED included or billed separately?

Tesla 50k warranty

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before. I'm a new Model Y owner 2023. My car is coming up to 50k miles, is there anything I should or need to do before reaching it due to the warranty?

Thanks

For Those Who’ve Had a Tesla on PCP - Did You Buy It at the End or Hand It Back?

Hi all,

I’ve been doing a lot of research before ordering a new Model Y and I’m interested to hear from people who’ve actually reached the end of their Tesla PCP agreement.

My initial plan is to keep the monthly payment sensible and, assuming I’m still happy with the car, buy it outright at the end by paying the balloon payment. However, I’m curious whether that’s actually what people end up doing in reality.
If you’ve had a Tesla on PCP:

- Did you buy it at the end, hand it back or part exchange it?
- Looking back, do you think you made the right decision?
- If you bought it, would you do the same again?
- If you didn’t buy it, why not?
- Did the real-world value of the car end up being higher or lower than the GFV?
- Is there anything you wish you’d known before taking out the PCP?

It would be great to hear real experiences from Tesla owners who’ve reached the end of their agreement.

Thanks in advance!

Tesla mobile app missing superchargers around London??

Hi all, I was exploring prices of the closest superchargers and I have noticed a lot of superchargers I knew are not appearing (e.g, Westfield White City, A4, Park Royal…), are you facing the same issues? I have no filters enabled for this behaviour?

Frankley Superchargers

Can you access these from the Northbound side? I’ve looked on satellite maps and there are access roads just checking there’s no barriers etc stopping this before I plan my journey. Thanks

Trying to decide on my electric car (20yo)

Hi everyone !

I am currently 20 and looking to upgrade my renault clio while also saving money on fuel and currently cannot decide between 3 at the moment and needed advice . I really need something that will easily reach 175 + miles in even the poorest conditions and need to be at least 3 years old so it would be used and less than 65k miles and cost less than £16k at a push and needs to be able to have good battery health and range more than 10 years past its registered date . I am super worried and conscious about the battery range compared to what is quoted and very conscious that it needs to be reliable and last a while

I am torn currently between :

  1. KIA Ev6 - less of these second hand at the price point but heard they are amazing and super reliable

  2. Polestar 2 - love the look of these but sadly ive heard terrible things about the battery range compared to what they quote which doesnt bode well for the battery health in the future in eyes

  3. Tesla model 3 - Sadly I don't know stupid amount about the tesla other than a modern 2026 one my dad has but im looking at 2022-23 versions for myself . I really also need advice as to which variant is best . I was looking at the Long Range version which is AWD but there may be a better version I dont know about .

I very much appreciate any advice and feedback and thank you so much in advance !

Speed Cameras

I have had the model 3 for about a week now and I have turned on speed camera chime but have noticed it misses out a lot of cameras that don’t even show up on the map. Is this normal?

Google maps vs Tesla maps

I regularly use google maps (via car play) because of the traffic updates, alternative routes, speed camera alerts etc). Does the Tesla integrated map work the same?

Delivery estimate disappeared

Ordered the white M3 RWD via PCH on 29th June and for the first few days it said September delivery. Since 2nd July, the delivery estimate has disappeared altogether. Has this happened to anyone else?

Model Y Ultra Red 6 month wait

Finally Collected My Model Y After the DVLA Delays — Worth the Wait!

Finally collected my Model Y in Ultra Red and honestly, the colour is absolutely stunning in person.
I originally ordered back in January, but I deferred my earlier collection slot because I wanted the updated black headliner. Then I ended up getting caught in all the DVLA registrations issues, which made the wait even more frustrating.
But it’s finally here now, and I’m so glad I waited. The Ultra Red looks incredible, especially in sun
Anyone else in the UK finally getting theirs after the DVLA delays? Curious how long everyone had to wait

Cleaning rear window

Rear window keeps getting very dirty. Wish the car had a rear wiper.

What do people here use to keep it clean? Best would be some kit I can store in the car to take around with me.

Order Process - PCP

For anyone that has purchased a car recently on PCP with blackhorse what happens when the car is delivered past the finance expiry?

In my case the car is scheduled for delivery from 9 Sept - 10 Oct but my Blackhorse pcp finance proposal/quote is only valid till 13th Sept?

Also my offer includes the trade in bonus and 0% finance and I don’t want to loose that.

The car was ordered on 15th June and finance applied and approved on same date.

I haven’t signed any agreements as yet as Blackhorse state this will happen closer to collection date

Any help would be appreciated

Model 3 seating position

Idk about anyone else, but the seating position on the model 3 highland is constantly annoying. This is possible just a me problem as I don’t like moving the wheel up too much as it blocks some of the windshield, and if I move the seat too down I don’t like how I can’t see much of the front of the car. I kinda like seeing some of the front of the car/ the sides so I know sort of where it is for ease of mind

A question about traffic cruise control speeds.

Hi, I test drove a model three today and it was fantastic. I have to wait till next September as I’m tied into a PCP which is annoying, but I will just have to wait. A question about something.

I set the cruise control to be set to the speed limit in the menu. I pushed the right hand wheel to start the system when in a 30 limit and it went to 30 i.e. tye repeat of the sign said 30, and the number is next to it said 30 and the car went at 30.

The limit went to 40, all okay, 50 all okay. I clicked the target speed up to 52. Then the limit dropped to 40. The repeat of the speed limit sign (i.e. the picture of the round sign with 40 in it) said 40 but the target speed next to it still said 52 and the car went at 52. So the car knew the speed was now 40, but the target speed stayed at 52. And I couldn’t work out why.

Can’t cancel Tesla Model 3 order

Ordered a model 3 a few days ago but decided to cancel due to Lex increasing prices last minute. Now cannot reach somebody at all. Tried calling (waited 2 hours), emails, app chat and even the sales advisor isn’t responding been 48 hours.

How can I realistically speak to somebody and get my £200 back? My last option is to visit the Tesla store if need be

When does PCH liability actually hit your credit report?

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently ordered a M3 for September/October delivery and plan to fund it via Tesla PCH.
I am currently house hunting, so mortgage affordability is a major priority. I want to know exactly when the active monthly commitment/credit liability will show up on my credit report.

Does the live account hit your credit file:

  1. Immediately upon finance approval/signing in the app?
  2. Or only after vehicle collection/delivery when the contract officially activates?

I know the hard search happens at approval, but I specifically need to know the timing of it being recorded on credit report.

Thanks!
