Hey everyone,
This year has been honestly pretty intense.
A lot of events, very little time, a lot of work… but also some moments that remind you why we build this kind of stuff in the first place.
Earlier this year, we ran a VR activation during the TOP 14 Extra Tour in France.
The setup was pretty simple:
A VR headset, a tracker attached to the player’s leg, and one goal:
Score a rugby penalty and try to get the best score.
But once people put the headset on, it wasn’t “just a small game” anymore.
They were really inside the experience.
You could instantly see the smiles, the surprise, the hesitation before kicking, and sometimes the complete loss of orientation 😂
Over 2 days, around 600 people tried the experience.
And honestly, that’s the part I love most about VR.
You don’t have to explain much.
People understand it the second they try it.
We built the experience with Unreal Engine 5, and it was really cool to see how immersive tech is becoming more and more common in live events, sports activations, training, and brand experiences.
Especially outside of huge tech events or Paris-based activations.
It was exhausting, but super rewarding.
Anyone else here building VR experiences for live events or brand activations?
What’s the biggest number of people you’ve had try one of your Unreal projects in a single day ?
