Many people I have talked to about persona 5 have told me that they don't really get why akechi is the justice >!instead of the fool, with him being a wildcard and his second persona being Loki, a renowned mythological trickster, which would be very fitting for the fool arcana, and this is my take on it!<

>!Akechi isn't justice in the conventional sense, and neither is the justice arcana!<

>!First off, akechi is a double sided character, with his detective prince persona being very fitting of the justice arcana, since he seeks the truth in everything and tries to preserve order and everything, and Robin hood is also his true persona, it's not just Loki. So, this personality is already in the clear. Dark akechi also exhibits signs of the justice arcana, but in this case, it is the reverse justice arcana, which could represent cruelty, apathy and warped morality, which fits with his berserker, battle lusted and almost hedonistic personality present in his true personality, but I think that this interpretation is only true if we take akechi at face value. If you interpret it further, Justice, as previously said, isn't conventional, legal justice. It also represents principle and staying true to yourself and your personality, and a part of justice also includes exacting it upon yourself. You can call akechi many things but he is never swayed from who he is. He knows his role and he knows that the things he did are unforgivable, and he stays 100% true to himself from start to finish, never trying to deny who he truly is deep down (yes, I know he literally does deny who he is deep down but that's just for the job, deep down, philosophically, he never does), and even after his revival in 3rd semester, he doesn't try to justify his actions. He knows what he did was despicable, and he doesn't try to deny it, even working towards his own punishment because that's what he deserves. As for Loki, it's also very simple, because although Loki doesn't embody conventional justice even a little compared to akechi, Loki always stays true to his trickster nature, and he doesn't deny himself his own purpose. He does what he wants because that's just who he is, and he is 100% true to his own existence as a trickster deity!<
