Error 0xFFFE / “Driver cannot be loaded” with ASRock utilities caused by FACEIT Anti-Cheat
I’m making this post because I spent hours trying to fix the 0xFFFE error and the “Driver cannot be loaded” message when launching several ASRock applications such as:
- ASRock Polychrome RGB
- ASRock A-Tuning
- ASRock Restart to UEFI
The applications refused to start and showed error 0xFFFE and “Driver cannot be loaded” with no clear explanation.
I tried many solutions found on Reddit and different forums:
- BIOS update
- Windows updates
- reinstalling chipset drivers
- installing/reinstalling Malwarebytes
- disabling antivirus
- completely reinstalling ASRock software
- running as administrator
Nothing worked in my case.
The problem disappeared immediately after uninstalling FACEIT Anti-Cheat and its related services/components.
So yes, after hours of troubleshooting, the “solution” was apparently to remove FACEIT Anti-Cheat entirely.
Apparently, actual cheaters still manage to bypass anti-cheat systems, yet legitimate motherboard utilities from ASRock get blocked as if they were a security threat. Priorities, I guess.
Meanwhile, uninstalling FACEIT immediately fixed everything on my system.
This strongly suggests a conflict between the anti-cheat protection and low-level ASRock motherboard drivers/utilities.
Posting this in case it helps other users and maybe so someone at FACEIT eventually acknowledges the compatibility issue instead of sending users on a endless troubleshooting journey for something their anti-cheat may actually be causing.
