Why do games end with time still on the clock?
I have only been watching NFL for 5 weeks (Hi from Melbourne) and I have seen multiple games where there's like three seconds left and the game is decided on the final play, but I have also seen games where there's 20 - 40 seconds left and the players shake each other's hands and walk off the field.
Can someone explain that to me? It's so weird as in every other sport that I have ever seen (except Cricket) the game keeps going until time runs out, and sometimes even beyond (like the Cardinals-Giants game where the Giants got the interception with 1 second to go, then ran it all the way down the field to score a TD even though there was no time left on the clock.
