Sealing the underside of concrete?
So, I have an ‘art project’, i say because i would normally never do this. Im putting a 1/2” plywood onto a concrete slab, and wondering how soon i can seal the underside. I poured it yesterday.
Let me back up. I made an art piece pit of wood, using sacred geomety, and the center was esentially 2 sheets of plywood, with metatrons cube on it (a sacred geometry design).
It did have plywood floorong, and 2x6’s underneath it, but thats all rotted out. And im tossing everything it the top design. Its cut into the shape of a hexagon, but its in 2 parts. Essentially i made the biggest hexagon i could out of 2 sheets of plywood.
My plan is to put it out in my front yard, so i covered the top in resin. I flipped upside down, put 2x4s as a form, and yesterday, i poured a 3.5” slab on the underside. Just the first of 2 slabs.
So, its already sealed on the top side. I resined in the top, put killeze and black plastic on the bottom, so no moisture from the top.
I want to seal the bottom, the part touching the ground, but i dont want to have to flip the thing over again.
What are the issues with sealing concrete early? When reading up, it sounded like improper curing due to low moisture was the issue.
Since its got plastic top on it (separating the plywood and concrete), its shouldn’t be an issue.
Heres my problem. I just poured the ting upside down, haven’t broken forms yet. And I’m kind of absorbing how heavy this thing is. I only want to flip it once. I want to seal the bottom. I don’t want it sitting like that for 28 days.
Specs say wait 28 days, but I think i can cheat that. Are their reasons other than curing for waiting? Is there any major concerns im overlooking.
