my grandfather was a war criminal
my family is from Germany and i have always known my grandfather served in ww2 when ever i asked him about it he said he was a regular soldier in the wehrmacht(the German army),one day me and my dad were helping him clean his attic and as i was clearing out old junk i stumbeled upon a bunch of old photos and one in particular caught my eye it was a photo of my grandfather in his military uniform, i decided to keep it and ask him about it. later that day i showed him the photo and he started crying and apologizing after i helped him calm down he confessed everything he wasn't a soldier he was a ss obersturmfuhrer(lieutenant), he said he killed over 200 civilians on the eastern front and ordered the death of hundereds more. the worst part is that this was the last conversation i had with him he died a few weeks later, i haven't told any of my family members about this and i don't think any of them know
