This is our ska interpretation of "Our Delight," the classic composition by the American jazz composer Tadd Dameron, arranged in the style of early Jamaican ska.

Inspired by the title Our Delight, we asked each member to share a moment that brings them joy, and turned those clips into a collage.
Our delight can be the little things in life—everyday moments, family, a delicious meal, an empty road, a funny doll suddenly standing up, or watching the sunset.

AUTHENTIC SKA STANDARD’s release for this month is “Our Delight,” the bebop classic composed by Tadd Dameron in 1946.
One of the most celebrated composers and arrangers of the bebop era, Dameron left an enduring legacy through compositions that continue to be performed by jazz musicians around the world. For this release, we have reimagined “Our Delight” in the style of early 1960s Jamaican ska, staying true to the spirit of the original while exploring a new musical direction.
Streaming begins at the end of July on all major platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.

This solo uses a very simple melody and chord tones to create a sense of progression, proving that instrumental interest can be achieved even with just arpeggios. The F7 arpeggio, in particular, is simple—just going up and down—but its effect is tremendous.
I use an old Selmer instrument from 1928, about 100 years old. The mouthpiece is a 1950s Selmer Soloist C-Star, and the reed is a Hemke 3 1/2.
