People are flashing Domestic X4s, right,?

Sorry for what might be a redundant post, but I've been following all of this for a few weeks and wanting to pull the trigger on an x3 or x4, but want to make sure I understand where things are at.

Xteink 'Domestic' models (viz. Asian; the ones you get from Ali) are 'locked' from flashing or changing firmware to something like Crosslink.

Crosspoint released a fix to this a week or two ago that gets around it, as I understand it, but Ali sellers are still writing customers with the official Xteink line that they won't be flashable.

My question is simply - I will be able to use Crosspoint's solution to flags to Crossink, right? People are successfully getting these units from Ali and making it work?

Just wanted to ask while I still have time to cancel the X4 order before it ships 😂.

Thanks

Hi all,

On the cusp of pulling the trigger as I’ve recently discovered the X3/X4 and am keen on them, as I am trying to get back to reading more often. I unearthed an old 2011-era Kobo my sister had abandoned and I’ve used it from time to time - my first foray into readers.

Like others, I am tossing around the X3 vs. X4 for my needs and I’m divided over it.

The idea of the smaller X3 and it fitting onto my phone is appealing but my worry is that even though the X4 is only marginally bigger, it’s not wildly smaller than my Kobo, and it will just be one more device I forget/don’t want to shove into a pocket when I’m heading out the door. If the X3 is basically stuck to my phone and has a more appealing form factor, I might be inclined to take it with me.

Just wanted to hear from those who had the same questions whether you found that the smaller form factor really helped you to take it with you and read more, or - if you went with the X4 - do you wish you went smaller, or do you find yourself reading more even with the X4?

It’s a bit nitpicky of a question but I am a pretty big believer in the idea that the easier we make something we want to turn into a habit, the more likely we will be to do it and make it habitual.
