certain EPUBs wont seperate chapters

Hello,

I have an X4 running Crosspoint. I have noticed that there are certain EPUBs that I download that wont seperate chapters when I load them onto my device.... in the bottom right corner, Instead of telling me "there are 80 page turns for this chapter remaining" itll say "there are 3,000+" which I can only assume is emcompassing the whole book. When I go to the navigation and try to select a certain chapter, it will just take me to the front of the book. It also wont distinguish between each chapter when I get to it - almost like it thinks the whole book is the first chapter.

Anyone run into this and have a fix?

X3 in hand after months of lurking.

Grateful for this community and all the invaluable feedback about X3 and X4 models. I was worried about the size of the X3, but it’s been perfect so far. Exactly what I wanted and needed when bringing my Kobo Libra Colour out wouldn’t make sense.

Also, all the great information on CrossPoint and making this little device even that much better was very much appreciated. I’m really enjoying the experience with it so far.

Shout out to the 3d print community for providing fantastic options for cases and accessories to print.

Really awesome to have such talented and giving people on all sides of my hobbies.

Just got the Xteink X3

Hi

New here and Reddit in general.

Just got this little guy and I'm addicted already.

I also have the kindle paper white 10th generation.

My plan is to use the kindle at night in bed, keep the X3 when I'm outside or on the move.

I haven't jail broke the kindle, is it possible to read the same book on both and have them synced(would this require jail breaking)

So far I have bought the book I am reading on kindle, I then downloaded the epub on the X3.

Then just go to the chapter and skip forward to where I left off on one of them.

Thank you

How to get books for this reader?

I have a Kindle and I kind of gave up on e-readers because I want to own my books. I've returned to physical books, but damn, they take too much space and it's hard to carry them around.

I would love to use this reader, but where can I buy books? Every place I searched is not as good as Amazon. THis is the thing blocking me from buying it.

Book progress when using in combination with other e readers?

I use a kindle to read at night but I’d like to get a x3 as I don’t take my kindle anywhere due to size. I also only like to read one book at a time so I’m wondering if anyone else has this challenge and what I could do to for reading the same book between a kindle and x3 but how to skip forward on the other device when progress is made on the other one?

Locked X4 via official page

I have seen other posts as well, it seems that now you will not get automatically get the Developer-version as non-chinese buyer of the official Shop. So bei aware... It seems that the only safe way is now to order "Developer Version" via Crosspoint link to the official shop.

Pretty annoying i only realised after ordering during the Sale that there was a cooperation now 😔

I wanted to play and develop a bit on it.. disappointed 😔

X4 or X4 Pro

Hello everyone! I have been looking into the XTEINK x4 for a while now and I want to pull the trigger. I see the x4 is sold out in mist grey currently, however it does go on preorder July 10th!

Should I wait to get the x4 pro or just order the x4? I don’t see where I really need to have a touchscreen device, I like the simplicity of the x4. How is the charging for it?

Pics of your decked out x4? I like the grey vs the black for sure.

Any way to check books for errors prior to loading them up?

I've had good success for the most part with epubs but every once in a while I'll get part way through and hit an error in the book and have to go to my computer and open calibre edit and try to figure it out. Sometimes I'm deep in a book and suddenly get an error out and about and have to wait to get home to fix it.

Wondering if anybody has experienced anything like this and if there is a way to scan books for any errors before loading them? I tried calibre edit tool to find issues but it doesn't seem to find everything.

My X3 Arrived

My X3 finally arrived! I ordered from the official site on the last day of the sale and it took 10 days to ship to the US. Got to say that the size and build quality is good. I also got the official case in black but the X3 fits just right on the back of my Oneplus 13. Got Crosspoint installed. So far, so good!

I’ve had my X3 for a little over a month now and just finished my 4th book on it. The simplicity of the design is the true game changer.

I’ve been wanting to read more often for quite some time now. I tried changing my habit from having the actual book with me at all times to getting a Kobo ereader to switching to reading epubs on my phone, but nothing seemed to get me going. Or at least, nothing *kept* me going.

Reading on my phone ended up being the most successful, because picking up the book or a separate device seemed a step too much. Which sounds very dramatic. But since I have my phone with me almost all the time, I did manage to finish a few books on it, but at the same time, I kept getting distracted by notifications or felt an urge to open a social media app. I was discussing this with my husband, because I felt the “compactness” (and the convenience) of my phone helped me with reading more, but it did distract me at the same time. This is where he suggested to look into XTEINK devices. Having a smaller ereader attached to my phone seemed such a simple but genius solution.

So after measuring which version would work best, I got the X3 and it’s - without sounding dramatic again - my best purchase this year. I have it with me almost all the time and read whenever I can. It feels so easy to just turn on the device, read a couple of minutes and then continue with my day. I’ve read more in one month than I have in a whole year. I’m a sucker for the typical classics, so I get a lot of epubs from standardebooks.org and am going through them now. Currently, I’m running CPR-vCodex on it after having seen it here in this community and am very happy with how it runs.

I know so many of you are hyped for the newer versions, but the simplicity of this device is what I love the most. No touch screen, just a handful of buttons and a basic operating system is what makes this device perfect.

Battery percentage doesnt go over 89% on x4 with crosspoint

This is the second time I charge my x4, and I noticed it doesnt go over 89%. Also, when I decided to plug it in it was at 5%, but in that moment it instantly went to 25%. Is it a battery issue, a crosspoint issue, or just a display bug?

Why I spent 2 months designing my own XTeink X4 case (and I almost gave up halfway through)

Following up on the interest from my previous posts, I wanted to share the real story of how this XTeink X4 case came to be.

Most people look at a case and see plastic. When I hold this, I don’t just see a product; I see the late nights, the discarded failures, and the stubbornness it took to make it work. Honestly, there were moments I stood at my desk, looking at a pile of warped, unusable plastic, ready to just give up and buy something off the shelf.

The struggle wasn't just about the "look". It was about three specific pain points that kept me up at night:

  • The Light: I decided to embed it directly into the case, which forced me to learn how to solder for the first time. Let’s just say I have a few burnt fingers to prove it. Wiring the circuit and finding the right lens material to diffuse the light properly without harsh hotspots. Felt like a never-ending science experiment.
  • The Buttons: My early prototypes were primitive just two separate, clunky pushers that felt loose. I wanted a solid, unified module that felt like a real controller. Designing the linkage to ensure they acted as a cohesive, satisfying click took more iterations than I care to admit, but finally getting it right was a huge breakthrough.
  • The Freedom: I’m not always a right-handed reader. I needed a design that lets me flip the device 180° to switch hands. Balancing that grip tension while keeping it comfortable for either hand was like solving a puzzle that refused to click.

It’s not perfect. It’s got its quirks and it’s a bit "rough around the edges" compared to mass-produced gear. But knowing that every curve, every solder joint, and every button component came from my own frustration and eventual breakthrough... it feels intimate in a way store-bought things just can't match.

To my fellow makers: how many prototypes do you usually bury in the trash before you finally get it right?

I’d love to hear about the projects that almost broke you, but you kept pushing for anyway.
