I’ve been looking into the genetic and physical traits of modern Turks, and it raises a fascinating question about history, ancestry, and identity.

When you look at Turkey's most prominent leaders, they don't look Central Asian or Turkic at all. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk had blonde hair, blue eyes, and distinctly Balkan/Rumelian features. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is from the Black Sea region and looks entirely Caucasian or Pontic Greek. Both of them—and a huge portion of the Turkish population—look completely "white" or Mediterranean, phenotypically identical to Greeks.

Historically and genetically, this makes perfect sense. When Turkic tribes arrived in Anatolia, they didn't replace the millions of Byzantine Greeks already living there. Instead, over centuries, those native Greeks converted to Islam and adopted the Turkish language. So, biologically speaking, the modern Turkish population is overwhelmingly made up of Islamicized, Turkified Greeks and native Anatolians, rather than Central Asians.

Which brings me to a really interesting historical thought: Anatolia and the Aegean were the heartlands of Ancient Greek civilization. If the people living there were slowly converted to Islam and started speaking Turkish, then the direct, biological descendants of Ancient Greek legends—the society of Plato, Euclid, Homer, and Herodotus—are currently walking around as modern-day Turkish Muslims.

1. Phenotype and Genetics: Do you agree that the "white" or Greek appearance of leaders like Atatürk and Erdoğan is proof that Turks are essentially converted native Greeks?
2. The Ancient Greek Connection: Do you ever think about the fact that your direct ancestors might have been the Ancient Greeks who built Ephesus and Troy, and who studied under people like Plato or Euclid?

besides the war and everything i noticed something . the previous ayatollah Ali Khamenei looks pretty Caucasian . i wanted to know how common it is to have this features and is he considered Iranian by features

• Does he fit the idea of "how Iranians look"? He has lighter features and fair skin. To native Iranians or those in the diaspora, does his appearance fit within the standard spectrum of Iranian phenotypes, or is his look distinctly associated with Northwestern/Azeri regions? How diverse is the "standard" Iranian look across different provinces?
• is he considered Persian or Iranian ?
