2026 Lexus IS 350 F Sport vs 2026 Tesla Model 3 Performance

Which is the better financial decision?

Lexus is offering 3.75% APR for 48 months, whereas Tesla is offering 0.99% APR for up to 72 months.

Which makes the most sense? I drive roughly 16,000 miles a year. Lexus gets 22MPG and takes premium, and Tesla is electric and costs about $100/mo for electricity (had one before). What about insurance costs for both vehicles?

Tesla Model 3 Performance also depreciates quicker (though the new refreshed model has been holding its value relatively well in the PNW) than the Lexus IS. If I plan to drive this car for the next 3-5 years, which makes more sense financially and has the lower ownership cost? I also see myself buying a home within the next 5 years so I'd payoff the loan then.

I am a recent grad and I understand they are both depreciating assets, but I still want to ride in style and give myself a little reward for graduating. I have no debt and have saved up over $50k while working as a student.

Also, how much down would be best for both cars?

Hi,

Last year I bought myself a Tesla Model 3 Performance only because they were offering 0% financing at the time and I saw that as "free money". I did not expect to fall in love with the car the way I did. The 2.9 0-60, sentry mode, the "futuristic aethetic", the minimalistic feel to the car, the tech, the convenience, I loved it and have no gripes against it but one ... the depreciation, oh and I think I took it to get serviced like 10 times, so I guess two reasons.

But last week it got totaled. Some guy went into my lane, spun me out, and I headed for a ditch. Now I need a replacement.

I am still relatively young guy (22) make pretty decent money and have minimal expenses.

Now I’m trying to be a bit more financially smart with my next car while still keeping it relatively fun.

I am open to new or used, heck even salvaged title I don't care. I'd prefer to spend as little as possible but I have saved a good amount and I can buy a car up to $65,000 in cash.

My priorities:

  1. Something that holds its value well and won't depreciate $15,000 in a year like my Tesla.
  2. Reliable
  3. Sporty
  4. Fuel efficient (drive 55 miles a day to work and back)
  5. Luxury
  6. Price

Right now I’m considering things like:

  • Lexus IS350 F Sport or 500 (reliability + sporty)
  • Lexus ES (reliability + fuel efficiency)
  • BMW M340i (fun)
  • whatever you guys recommend

I’m very open to other suggestions I might be missing.

I’m located in the PNW, so AWD is a plus but not required.

Would appreciate any recommendations or personal experience with similar transitions. TIA
